Nighttime feedings & STTN
DS is just about 7 weeks old, so I know it's a little early for this, but he's starting to sleep for longer stretches of time at night (we feed him whenever he wakes), so I figured I'd see what we could expect here.
How old was your LO when he/she started sleeping through the night and/or skipping the nighttime feeding?

By 4 months dd was going 10-11 hours straight. We didn't do anything, we follow her lead.
Edit. What do you consider sttn? My pedi said that at her age at the time sleeping 6 hours was sttn. She was doing that from 2 months. Maybe earlier.

DD was sleeping through the night between 2.5 and 3 months. I can't remember exactly, I just know that it was just before I went back to work and I had taken a 12 week fmla.

DD slept about 9-10 hours straight (with a dream feed at 10pm for which she stayed totally asleep) at 2 months and then 12 hours at 3 months.

we'd like to get to the 10pm-6am time frame so he's at least sleeping around the same time that works for our schedule.
as of now, he's been getting a bottle around 10:30p and waking between 4 and 4:30a and i feed him and then goes back to sleep until about 8/8:30a.
when can i stop offering that middle of the night bottle? he still appears to need it to settle back to sleep, but i don't know if it's hunger or comfort he gets from it.

I never cut it out. Dd did. If she woke and wanted it, I gave it to her. Once I knew she would go straight through if she woke it was for something other than hunger. She cut it out herself.
I know people offer less and less when they wake and that can wean them off. At 7 weeks though dd needed the bottle when she woke for hunger.
If you offer the bottle and they only take a couple of ounces then they are not legitimately hungry and are relying on the bottle to get themselves back to sleep.
Every baby is different. Some go 10-12 hours by 6 weeks, some 6 months and so e a year.

At 7 weeks, I doubt it is for comfort. He probably still needs to eat again.
My first DS was like yours. Bottle around 10-11 pm, then down for the night until about 4:30, would eat and sleep again another 4 hours.
Here is what happened with us: around 8-9 weeks, he slept until 5:30, then woke up, then around 11-12 weeks, he went from about 10-6:30/7 in the morning . So hopefully he will go longer stretches soon. There will be blips though: during a growth spurt, they may wake up occasionally to eat in the middle of the night.
My boys pretty consistently STTN from 12 weeks on. But there was usually one night a week or so, where they would wake up to eat. That pretty much stopped by 6 months.
Good luck, he sounds like a great sleeper already!!

Around 9-10 weeks my dd started sttn which meant about a 7 hour stretch. She would do about 11-6... then it seemed like every few weeks she would add an hour of sleep. And then she started going to bed earlier.

When she got good with the pacifier, I first offered that if she got up in the early morning. If that didn't do it, then a bottle it was. But she dropped it on her own.

At 7 weeks it's not for comfort. Feed him if he's waking up. He's still tiny and needs to eat. And 6 hours is considered sttn at 7 weeks old.
Honestly, at 7 weeks most babies are still waking 2 or 3 times a night. Your schedule sounds amazing.
Your son will sleep longer when he's developmentally ready to. I don't think you can push it at that age.

At 7 weeks DS2 was giving us long stretches and was only waking once at night. That quickly changed. He's 4 months now and is just now starting to give us 5-6 hour stretches. He was waking every 2-3 hours at night (EBF). He's also 17lbs and 26 inches (as of 4 weeks ago) and the ped told me that bc he is growing so very fast, he needs a lot of calories and thus wakes to eat frequently. She said his growth and need to eat should slow down at around 4 months and apparently it's finally happening I've been a zombie these last 4 months so a 5 hour stretch feels amazing!

Around 6 weeks DS began sleeping through the night and I credit it completely to moving his RNP into his room and out of mine. He smelled mommy and would wake very often, but the first night he went in his room, he slept 5 hours and progressively went longer. He typically has his last bottle, 6oz or so, around 9:30-10 and then goes down until about 5. Some days he goes down earlier, sometimes later, and his wakeup time can vary too. He's going through a growth spurt right now and he woke up the last two nights at 3 for a bottle. It's a great schedule for us because we sleep at the same time. A few times he fell asleep way too early, like 7, and was up constantly.
Generally, increasing the last bottle helps eliminate night feedings, but my DS doesn't really eat more than 6oz at a clip. He's 13w now.
What you have now is a great schedule, I wouldn't try to change it!

By 8 weeks DS would fall asleep at 9pm, we would dream feed him at 11pm (cause that is when we wanted to go to bed) and then he started sleeping to about 630/7. After his bottle at 630/7 most days he would nap again for another hour or 2. We slowing moved the dream feed earlier then later increased the other 4 bottles and got rid of it and made his last bottle at 8pm (but that was a few months later).
I think doing the last bottle when you want to all go to sleep it the best approach, he will just keep sleeping later and later.
Best advice the pediatrician ever gave us: Once they skip the nighttime feedings, NEVER GIVE IT AGAIN. It then becomes something they want for comfort not for hunger and it not help with sleeping through the night.

Both kids.........8 weeks. They just dropped the one night bottle on their own and slept from around 10pm to 7am.
At 12 weeks they were sleeping 7-8pm until 6-7am.
I was fortunate to have good sleepers.

This is all great feedback - thank you so much! I do agree that he is still waking for hunger and not for comfort at this point - he's a growing boy :) I will continue to follow his lead on what he needs as far as the feed/sleep schedule goes and hopefully it will only lead to sleeping for longer stretches as the weeks go on.
We truly have been blessed with his schedule so far and I don't want to rush him whatsoever. Hearing from other people helps to get an idea of what to expect and it looks like we're on the right track!

I would try giving him an extra oz or 2 for his last feeding and see how that goes. We did that with both kids and they slept 12 hours a night. DS from 5/6 weeks and DD from 2 weeks.

I will also try adding a little more to the last feeding as well to see if it holds him over longer :)

6w DS was STTN. Its not 100% consistent but more times the not he doesn't do mid night feedings anymore.
We just started putting LO in his crib while awake over the weekend right after his last bottle which is anywhere between 8-9. Last night he woke up around 1:15 and i thought he looked hungry so i nursed him. LO ate like he never ate before! I/d just follow your LO's lead.

She's been giving us 4-5 hour stretches since she came home! But just last night she slept form 930-520 this morning- and she is 8 weeks tomorrow,
Shes also EBF.

DS#2 dropped his night feedings around 6-7 weeks and started sleeping thru the night.
Now at 5 months, he still doesn't need a night feeding but is a more restless sleeper, fussing a few times thru the night but mostly sleeps OK.
DS#1 dropped his night feeding and never looked back at 8 weeks.
