How do feedings work with sttn?

My 10 week old DDs eat 3.5 oz every 3 hours. (8 bottles). A few weeks ago they began skipping the 12/1 am night feeding do they are eating 7 bottles. I notice they are finishing their entire bottles every time as opposed to sometimes leaving a half oz here and there. So I'm not too concerned with them just getting 7 bottles.

My question is, what happens when they start skipping the 6/7 pm feeding? They will be getting just 6. Or will they be eating over the current 3.5 oz by the ?

Most likely they will be looking for more food at each feeding to make up for the dropped bottles. I usually went up 1/2 ounce at a time until I figured out how much they needed.

ITA.

They should start to drink more during the day to make up for what they aren't getting at night.

You may also be able to spread out the feedings a bit so they aren't going as long without a bottle overnight.

When they came home from the NICU we had to feed every 3 hours.

Eventually I think it went t 3.5/4 hours depending on nap schedules etc.

They have always had a bottle first thing in the morning and last thing before bed.

My DD is about the same age and she went from 4ozs each feeding to 5ozs. and 6 or 7 instead of 8 feedings. She's been doing pretty good with STTN. In the morning I like to offer more like 6ozs since she went so long.

Re: How do feedings work with sttn?

Id like to up them but they are still at the point where they aren't finishing each bottle at each and every feeding. My one DD will look for more every once in awhile (like once every 3 days not consistently each day) but will go feedings where she just eats 3 or 2.5 oz.

The nicu has us feeding her every 3 like. Clockwork but that didnt work for her when she came home. We ended up feeding on demand and she began taking more in no time and eventually she went back to every 3. Even now they rarely go more than 3 in the day. They do the night stretch then a 4 hour after the 5:30 am feeding then back to 3.
