Sippy cup

DD is 10 1/2 months old. She drinks out of a regular sipppy cup and a straw cup. With her first birthday approaching, we want to start to work towards getting rid of her bottles. The problem is that, while she'll gladly drink water from her cups, on the occasions when we've tried giving her formula in the cups, she gets upset, cries, pushes the cup away, and refuses to eat unless we give her a bottle. We give her bottles, but have tried replacing one with the cup, to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Sippy cup

i have tried everything.
even ovaltine per my ped's suggestion,
she will not drink from the cup,
so at 15 months, she is still getting bottles.
i have no advice, just that i'm here with you. she is still young though, so maybe she will get it!

Re: Sippy cup

Having same issue here! I posted the same question earlier in the week! Someone pointed out that she may just not be ready yet. I weaned her down to just 2 bottles / day and will try again in a few weeks...

Re: Sippy cup

no suggestions... just wondering - did your ped say something about trying to wean off bottles? is it just a personal preference?

dd is 14 months this week and our ped said not a word about weaning off bottles at her 12 month visit...
she takes 2 bottles a day... 10oz in the morning, then goes back to sleep for a few hours, and 8oz at bedtime. she doesn't fall asleep ON the bottle but it's still a huge part of our routine.
she takes about 5oz of water from her sippy throughout the day...

I cannot even imagine trying to wean her off bottles Chat Icon

10 1/2 months old is really young to wean from bottles. Why are you worried so young?
