Pediatric orthopedic dr.
One of my twin grandsons who is 3 has a problem with one foot being a little larger then the other foot. One of the doctors my daughter consulted said he may need some complicated foot surgery. She is looking for a very good orthopedist preferably on Long Island for a second opinion and consultation. Anyone have an pediatric orthopedist whom they have used and were very happy with.? I would so very much appreciate any recommendations for doctors that you may have had experience with. Thanks so much we are all so worried about this little guy and unsure how to proceed and do what is very best for this little guy who has been through so much already!

Re: Pediatric orthopedic dr.
My son sees Dr. Raggio at The Hospitsl for Special Surgery. It turns out that he didn't need surgery for torticollis that another dr said he would. She was our second opinion and spent over an hour with us. She was wonderful with my son and very knowledgable. I would highly recommend her. Again, she didn't actually do surgery on him but we still see her for follow ups. I hope everything works out

Re: Pediatric orthopedic dr.
If they need surgery I would go to the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.

I second Dr. Carrion. He's all business, but he knows what he's doing.

Re: Pediatric orthopedic dr.
My Son had surgery with Dr Carrion last november - definitely all business but the nurses and doctors there raved about him and said he is the best and I honestly felt like he was.

Pediatric orthopedic dr.
Dr. Wallach. He was the doctor who was called to do my spinal fusion when I broke my neck. Then a few years later when my daughter had hip dysplasia I chose to take her to him because I knew how great he was from already working with him.

Dr. Wallach treated DD's hip dysplasia also and I wasn't thrilled with him. He just seemed to see too many patients in a day and was always in such a rush. I felt like I didn't really get the chance to process anything until the appointment was over and it was too late to ask questions. There were also some things that DD's physical therapists noticed that I felt he should have noticed or told me about at her 9 month follow up which he didn't.

Thank you all for your suggestions. It's so much appreciated my daughter will try to do some follow up to see which of the doctors suggested might take her GHI insurance at least she has some names of doctors to start with!

I felt the same way about Dr. Wallach . . He was the one who saw my son twice (for a total of maybe 10 min) and wanted to schedule my son for neck surgery. I was not comfortable with that so we went for a 2nd and 3rd opinion at the hospital for Special Surgery and both of those Dr's said my son did not need surgery just to continue PT. He is now 3 1/2 and his neck is just about perfect.
