I've heard good things about him, but I had a negative experience with the female orthopedist in that practice, Dr. Lazar. I liked her personally, but felt like she was being overly cautious and treating my daughter unnecessarily, so we went for a second opinion.
We were very happy with Dr. Ronald Lewis. He has offices in Bethpage and Huntington. His personality is a little dry, but he knows his stuff.

I used Dr. Wallach in stonybrook. In hindsight, I'm not really a big fan of his. I think he's a good doctor just way too busy and didn't have enough time to spend in each appointment.

Dry as a piece of toast like a PP said but he's very good.

Dr Gaffney didn't take our insurance so I am bringing DS to Dr. Trepeta in Deer park on Friday. I can let you know how is!

I took DD to Dr. Trepeta. He was good- explained things clearly, nice, etc. They have therapy and x-ray machines right upstairs in the same building. BUT the office was a nightmare. It' right on 231 and there is NO parking. People have to park all up and down side streets and then walk. The office and waiting room, even though it's a pediatric orthopedist, is not kid friendly at ALL. No tv, no toys, nothing. We had to wait over an hour and DD was scaling the walls. I almost walked out...

I used him as well. I'd dare say drier than toast, but he was really good with my DD for hip dysplasia and on top of his game

Oh my goodness...this is pretty much how I felt about the office. I had dd2 with me and had to bring the snap and go back out to my car (around the corner) then go back into the office and downstairs (with dd in the carrier because she was sleeping) I stood at the desk while the receptionists and nurse were looking at cell phone pics. I was *thisclose* to leaving and then they decided to pay attention. We waited about 10 minutes in the waiting area (thank goodness for games on my phone) and another 10 minutes or so in the exam room. Dr came in was kind of quick and that was that. I had a few questions and felt a bit rushed.

We use Dr. Gaffney also, great doc, but not so friendly and don't like his bedside manner. But, he is smart and a great doc, so personality comes second!

ughh..are there any NICE pediatric Ortho's ?
Lewis - been there 3x. Much nicer when my husband was present.
Gafney - has bad reviews online as terrible bedside manner.
anyone ever see a Jonathan Owens in babylon ???

We use Dr. Carrion in Stony Brook. He was good with my newborn and my toddler. He isn't warm and mushy, but he knows his stuff!

We have used Dr. Carrion and Dr. Wallach (Stony Brook Orthopaedics) and I have no complaints about either.
We also used someone at St. Catherine's in Smithtown, whose name escapes me at the moment, but he reeked of smoke, and didn't wash his hands when he came in the room to examine my child. I was so disgusted and turned off, we never went back there.
