Telling your Job
Ok, I am making plans to tell my boss that I am preggers. I am sure he will be understanding because his entire team are women. Hell my company is pretty much built up on professional females.
I wanted to know how you guys told your jobs that you were pregnant. Is there a professional way to do this? Do I email my boss a photo of my Sono and say Surprise!!!
How did you guys go about telling your jobs that you were pregnant.

Telling your Job
I went into his office and said I had to talk to him about something. He actually dropped a big bomb on me about next year, we are changing a lot of stuff... as I was going to tell him a coworker knocked and he tried to dismiss me... said OK, I have to talk to so-and-so... what did you want to talk to me about? I sat there, like UM... UH... Oh well, I guess I'll just tell both of you! And I just told them both I was pregnant. He high-fived me (I have been here 11 years, and up until the last two years was with a jerk of a guy who everyone hated and who made me miserable) and asked if I was going to come back next year (I'm a teacher).
I would just ask for a meeting and tell him. He was glad to know, and that he has to find a replacement for me, he has plenty of time... it would help if you knew when you plan on going out and coming back. He asked me when my last day would be, and I said I'd work until the dr says I can't or until I go into labor. But I don't have an exact date for him. Good luck!

Re: Telling your Job
That's what I plan to do. The good thing is that I can work from home with my job. I plan on working till I pop or till the doctor says I can't any more. Whichever comes first.

Telling your Job
I just met with my boss and told her when I was 12 weeks because I wanted to make sure she knew before anyone else.

Re: Telling your Job
I work for doctors so I told them pretty early. We had a meeting at the hospital and I couldn't make it because I was sick all morning. Told them that day so they didn't think I was flaking out.

Telling your Job
I told my department chair when I was 14+ weeks pregnant. I just mentioned it casually to him. I was waiting to tell my principal, but my chair told him before I got a chance. Oh well!

Telling your Job
With dd I told my boss while we were on a business trip - I was only 8 weeks but we normally split a bottle of wine with dinner and well I just couldn't pull that off for 5 nights. I told him he will be drinking alone this trip bc I'm pregnant and he was excited for me. I shared the news with the rest of my team at a weekly meeting a few weeks later
With this pregnancy I told my boss in person and then sent a photo if dd with a sticker saying "big sister may 2014" to the rest of my team I would tell your boss in person instead of with a sono pic

I told my boss this weeks at 9 weeks because I took a second day off for the year, which is unlike me. She was really excited, but I'm also not taking any maternity leave.

Re: Telling your Job
I was about 14 weeks and my boss was telling me about some changes going on in our agency, which included a small promote for me. I took that as a good time to let her know and just said "well in that case, I need to let you know something." At first she thought I was about to tell her I was quitting, but then when I told her I was pregnant she started crying, lol.

I told mine at 6 weeks bc I had such bad MS. I'm happy I did bc it meant a lot to him that he was the first to know.
