Sleeping with bottle?

I know about sleeping with a bottle at night is bad for their teeth. But my dd lately likes to fall asleep with her baba in her crib for her naps. She doesn't like to be held anymore. Aside from the teeth issue is there any other issues with it?

I have no issues with it, but my husband seems to think there is an issue with laying flat and drinking her bottle. I watch her until she falls asleep on the baby monitor then go in and take the bottle from her. So shes safe in that perspective. I watch VERY closely.
Is there any issue with laying flat and drinking?

Re: Sleeping with bottle?

i hope there are no issues with laying flat and having a bottle- i find that is the easiest way to get dd down for her naps!
i feed her most of her bottle in my arms, and the last ounce she is in her crib with her blankie in hand
she finishes the ounce, rolls over and take a nap

eta - the only thing i can think of would be if you LO suffers from reflux or spitting up...but if you dont have those problems you should be ok

Sleeping with bottle?

It can cause ear infections as drinking while lying flat can cause fluid to collect in the middle ear and clog the Eustachian tubes.

It's also really really bad for their teeth. Like really bad. If you can give her water instead of milk in that bottle, it would be so much better.

I can second the whole ear infection piece as thats what the ENT told us before DS got his tubes. They discourage laying flat to drink...

Re: Sleeping with bottle?

Can you introduce a lovey or security blanket instead? It might not be the actual drinking of the bottle as much as it is a security routine.
