My 7 month old fell off the couch
She was playing with a box I had just wrapped. She got too close to the edge of the ottoman that makes our couch a big play area. As I went to grab her she fell off onto our wood floor. She cried and I cried but she was back to playing within 2 minutes. She seems to be fine, went to bed at normal time. I keep checking on her. She just woke up crying so we are cuddling right now. Called dr and he just she should be fine just watch and see if she seems off, poor kid probably has a headache. I feel like the worst mom.

Re: My 7 month old fell off the couch
I know it stinks when they get hurt, but sounds like all is ok!! My middle son fell out of his high chair (DH didn't belt him in by accident) and he landed on his face on the wood floor...he had a bruise and cried a lot but was fine 5 minutes later...it happens..do not beat yourself up!!

My 7 month old fell off the couch
Everyone goes through something like this. Just today I was cutting DD's nails with a big proud smile that I have never cut her finger.......and as soon as the thought entered my head I saw the blood. She was fine, she didn't even notice. I felt horrible of course just like you are saying, but I don't think either of these things reach worst mom status. Enjoy the cuddling :)

My 7 month old fell off the couch
I'm sure she's fine. Probably she was more startled than hurt. Unfortunately, there will be a lot lore falls as she gets more mobile! My son is 18 months and falls are a common occurrence. Last night he fell off the couch and onto the dog bed which was on carpet and he screamed bloody murder, he wasn't hurt, just startled.
I think it happens to everyone, they get to the point where you can't leave them on anything but the floor before you realize there at that point

Re: My 7 month old fell off the couch
All three of my kids have either fallen off the couch or our bed and they are all fine! It is a definitely a "worst mommy" feeling! But everything will be ok! If you haven't noticed anything by now, I am sure all is ok!

My 7 month old fell off the couch
She has been crying intermittently so I called the ped's office and was told unless she's throwing up or lethargic just to keep her home and watch her for 24hrs but they have hard heads and will fall off tons of things for the next couple of years.

Re: My 7 month old fell off the couch
No fun but it sounds like she will be fine!! My DS has fallen off the couch/bed and the changing table. I always feel terrible because half the time I am literally right there when it happens. Amazingly he seems to take the falls way better then I do.

My 7 month old fell off the couch
Sorry to hear that. I know how scary it is. I dropped one of my twins once & he was only about 1 month old. He was sleeping on my chest as I lay in bed sleeping. The other started to cry. I then jumped out of bed totally forgetting I was already holding one. THANK GOD he was ok. You are not a horrible mom. It happens. SOmetimes, its worse for us then them. Hang in there & just watch her

This happens to EVERYONE. And anyone who tells you it's NEVER happend to them just doesn't want to admit it -
Don't beat yourself up - You're NOT a bad mother. It was an accident, the baby is fine - keep an eye on her but don't worry. Kids are tough !!

My 7 month old fell off the couch
Don't beat yourself up about it! My DD did the same thing…..twice. 1)She took a header off the couch. I was watching her from a couple of feet away. It happened in slow motion. 2) I was putting on make-1up in the bathroom and she crawled in. Pulled up on the bathtub (empty!) and leaned on the shower curtain which obviously didn't support her and she went head first into the empty tub.
I'm giggling now replaying the scenes in my head, but at the time I thought I was the worst mom EVER!

Re: My 7 month old fell off the couch
I know how awful you feel. dd fell off our bed when she was 8 months. it seemed like it was in slow motion... I was trying to grab her... but yet it all happened so fast, if that makes any sense. thank goodness it was on to carpet, but we have a high bed. she did the scream, where her mouth was open and no sound came out at first... then the screaming and crying. omg it was awful. I called my mom in a panic (she's a nurse) and she came over within 10 minutes. by the time she got here, dd was fine. she checked her pupils and some reflexes and just told me to stir her every hour or 2 at night, if she didn't wake on her own. she was fine. I think it was worse on me.
