How did you know you were done having kids?
I am pregnant with baby #3. It is a boy so we will have 1 dd and 2 ds. We are thrilled. My doctors are encouraging a repeat c-section and having my left tube taken due to uterine issues. They are also suggesting I consider a tubal. My pregnancies have gotten increasingly harder and my health is not in the best place. My concern is we always said we would like 4 kids. If we did have a 4th we would start TTC around this time next year. I am due in May.
So how did you know you were done? I see so many that are so sure, but i'm just not there. HELP!

How did you know you were done having kids?
My advice, don't do anything permanent. Yes, you could always try IVF if you wanted another after a tubal, but that's not always so easy and not 100%.
Why do something so permanent when you're considering more?

I was on the fence about a 3rd. We had a surprise pregnancy for 3.
I had a vbac with #3 but if not would have had my tubes tied.
For us the reasons to stop were
Financial
Space
Time
After having 3 under 3 I am positive I am done!!

My sanity.its dwindling lol..seriously I have 3 & I know my limits and I have reached them. The quality of my life.my families life is important to me so when I had my 3rd 6 mnths ago @ 40 yrw old I knew she was my last child.

Haha, my sanity is dwindling too! I had my third 8 months ago. I'm at my limit!
I always knew I wasn't done after #2 but now I do feel done. I'm soaking every baby stage up with my third because I know I'll never be doing it again.

Honestly if your doctor is suggesting a tubal and you have health issues and increasingly difficult pregnancies I'd pretty much heed his advice.
You will have 3 children that need you healthy. I would put that before having to have 4.

I knew i was done at 2 when my gf told me she was pg and my immediate thought was "wow sucks for you w the sleepless nights"
Aside from that i also had alot of trouble delivering DD and im afraid itll happen again. We are definitely done unless God has other plans or us.

After my second child I just felt like I wasn't done. I was scared about having a third but I had such a desire to have another baby. I just didn't feel done.
I'm know pregnant with my third, and even though I haven't had the baby yet, I know for sure I'm done. I just feel it and I never felt this way before.

We always wanted four kids as well, but my DD (baby #2) was such a difficult baby (and she is still a very high maintenance child) that we knew if we had another it could seriously compromise our marriage. DH had a vasectomy and I don't regret it one bit.

I appreciate all the response very much! I know we should be done after this lil guy, but I was waiting for that yup we're done feeling to come. We talked a lot last night and I think we have decided if I have a c-section we will do the tubal and if I can vbac we'll wait 6 months and see. If we're done dh will get a vasectomy.

See I think that's what the thing is for me. I can except this should be our last and be ok, but to make that permanent just scares me. It's not that we would necessarily have a 4th but to not have that option makes me say I want 10 lol. I recognize I need to be here for my kids and another pregnancy would be very hard on me and I need to start focusing on my health. At this point i'm at least 1.5 years out from starting the meds I need to be back on with nursing and such. If we added another child that's more then likely 3-4 years off and that just isn't good for me. Plus I don't want to keep pushing things off because we have a little one. I want to do things with my daughter and enjoy her being little too.
Thank you again ladies I sincerely appreciate all your advice!

I have two kids.. DS who is 3 and DD who will be 1 next month. I am seriously wanting to go for #3 except we can't afford it as we have to do IVF and insurance doesn't cover it. I am very happy with my two.. but there is this urge that I am fighting to be pregnant again. To have a new little person to love! etc etc. I don't know. It's really hard.

I have 3. I am completely happy with that. No desire for another. Got rid of all my maternity clothes. Started getting rid of baby stuff. I just KNOW I'm done.

I would love to have a fourth but I know we are done:
Finances
Our sanity- the level of exhaustion we are at with three- don't think we could handle the lack of rest a fourth would bring.
It makes me sad but I know that if we had a fourth, we would be so overwhelmed and tired I think it wouldn't be fair to our other three!
If I was younger and could be a SAHM- and if we had more money.....but we are VERY blessed with our three so we have no real regrets about not having a fourth.

I'm currently preggo with number 2 and everyone is already asking me if I'm done...and honestly I dont know!
I'm not even in my own home yet and still feel like i'm in this transition. My DH on the other hand is like we are totally done, i'm 40 now blah blah blah....i'm in my early 30's and feel like its too soon for me to be in this position of this is the very last time i'll be preggo/have a baby/etc.
We are going to find out if DC is a boy or girl...that might deff help me decide if I should go for a third!
maybe when DC is older i'll feel like having a third will be too much to handle but i just dont have that "feeling" yet.

I just knew - DH and I are both very practical people. We are not the 'everything will work out - all you need is love' types .......
We have plans for our finances, our family, our life together, our future. Obviously life happens and sometimes things don't go according to your best plans ........but we are definitely planners, and 2 kids was more than enough for us to feel our family was complete.
