Not really the best comeback but people have been very patient with us and haven't really asked. To anyone that did ask we just said we were still "practicing".

I used to say that if it happens, it happens and it may not happen at all and then I'd change the subject.

I just say "soon" then if they keep asking I try to change the subject. I hate when people ask I think its such a personal question. One girl I know came up to me at a function and asked if I was pregnant. I am not friends with her and I said no are you and then walked away.

My biggest pet peeve. My cousin's wedding I had to excuse myself for a few minutes during the cocktail hour because it got to be to much. Luckily we were staying in the building so I just went up to my room and took a 5 minute time out.
But since DH is gone 4 out of 7 days a week I just say, "we have to see each other once in a while to have a baby", or I will say "were just enjoying our time together", or if they start with the age comments then I may say "well get there." If they still persist I usually find a valid and nice reason to walk away.
Christmas we only see family members that are close enough to us to know what were going through, so its not a big issue.

I use to tell family if they kept asking when DH and I were going to have children we were going to get a dog instead of having kids--after we got a dog EVERYONE stopped asking.
