BFing moms who had mastitis or a clogged duct (repost)
For those who has mastitis or a plugged duct how did you know it was unclogged? I started antibiotics yesterday and feel much better- after pumping the affected boob often and once yesterday for an hour I think i finally emptied it (I got almost 5 oz out!) But now when I pump I only get an ounce... It feels empty and much less sore. I bf'ed dd1 for 8 months are never had this and needless to say I don't ever want it again! Tia for your help.

My supply dropped after mastitis but only for a short period of time. Lasted maybe a week? Then it came back just keep pumping like usual and give it time! Hope you are feeling better!

I had a plugged duct and i think DD got it out overnight because it went from terrible pain one night to nothing the next morning.

For me it gets softer and hurts less once unplugged.

But for mastitis does it stay red (the boob)? I've Bren pumping away for like 25 minutes and only get -'1-2 ounces. It's still red but much less sore. It's softer but not nearly as soft as the good boob after a feeding.

For me it took a few days even on antibiotics to go totally back to normal- all the way soft and empty feeling. It's not just the plug, it's inflammation from the infection and that takes time go away.
Are you eping or nursing too? Cause if your nursing, try pointing babies nose to the area of the plug. Or nursing while you hover over them , gravity helps then.
Make sure your using warm compresses before you nurse or pump.
I had recurrent plugged ducts and I took lecithin supplements for a we weeks which helped a lot

Thanks. My nip is so sore that it's hard to nurse on that side plus the milk is so slow she only takes it for a few (painful) minutes. I've been pumping that side everytime I nurse for at least 20 minutes but only getting an ounce or 2... However I just pumped for 30 and got almost 3 ounces.
Thank goodness I am feeling better because I can't believe how awful I felt. Im just so afraid I'm going to get it again!
