HELP- BF moms, i have a clogged duct
OMG its so painful. I cant even nurse DS. My breast is ROCK solid and there is even a small white head looking thing on thr tip of my nipple.
I did warm compresses and took a hot shower. I then pumped to relieve the pressure but its stil so rock hard.
I also took some Advil to help w/ the pain.
Does anyone have any suggestions? HELP

You have to have to have to nurse. Whenever I had a clogged duct i stuck those babies on that boob as often as i could.
Stand under the hot water in the shower and massage and rub that lump as much as you can stand it.
If it goes more than a day or two or starts to feel hot you must call your dr. so you don't end up with mastitis.

is pumping ok instead of nursing him? I cry bloddy murder when he latches on. It feels like he has dozens of teeth and is biting me. I cried throughout the entire 4am feeding from the pain

NURSE NURSE NURSE! As much as it hurts you have to nurse through it. The baby is waaay more efficient at nursing than a pump, it will come unclogged eventually, but keep putting him on that boob first. And massage it in the hot shower, warm compresses, everything. If you get a fever and/or the chills, call your doc and have them give you a scrip for diflucan or something similar as it's then probably mastitis. I had it twice, it blows and it hurts, but it'll go away. Hang in there

Even though it's painful, nursing is the best way to unclog the duct. Try to nurse as often as possible on that side to drain the breast. Keep applying the heat and massage the area often. The pump never really gets everything out. You don't want it to get infected.

aww..you have to nurse.
the milk must get out or its going to get worse.
even if you can only do 10 mins...cry and get it over with. once fever and flu like symptoms kick in, its 10 times worse.
sooo sorry. i am in tears typing this as the pain comes back to my mind.

The one tried and true method that I SWEAR by is to lay the baby down on a bed, then lean over the baby and let her nurse like that. The force of gravity along with letdown helps to clear it.
This has always worked for me. Feel better!

I did this too and when I wasn't nursing, I had a ziploc bag filled with hot water in my bra!!
Also check on kellymom about the "whitehead" - I can't remember the exact concoction but I was sprizting it with water & vinegar (maybe a third ingredient).

I did this also, while massaging the clog. Everything else I did, it sounds like you are doing already! It'll pass-- just keep nursing/pumping and massaging.

I've had clogged duct several times (actually have one roght now). You have to NURSE from the clogged boob all day! Start each session on that boob and always pump after the feeding as well!
Some other things that helped me:
Hot showers, massage while showering
Fill a bowl with the hottest possible water thst you can stand, lean over and dip your boob in it! Stay in as long as you can stand it
Nurse on all fours while your DS lays flat on his back, the gravity plus sucking will help
If you have a hot tub, go in there and let the jets pound on your boob! This one prob helps the most! I stay in for 10-15 min with the jet directing on my boob, then nurse.
