Working moms who pump/bf
Dd is 12 weeks on Tuesday and I am returning to work 2 full days a week...I have been ebf and it seems as though dd hates bottles and pacifiers...although its only 2 days a week, I am having anxiety about leaving her, affecting my milk supply and niPple confusion...i plan on pumping every 3 hrs...but I'm more worried about dd feaking out if she can't be soothed by nursing...any advice or experiences that anybody can share to ease my mind a bit?

no advice except we are going through the same thing. if you are worried about dehydration until she takes the bottle, her caregiver can always give BM through a dropper.

It will work out I promise. DS never took a bottle from me, he did take a paci. I didn't even really attempt the bottle too much before returning to work. I went back to work at 12 weeks and he stayed home with DH for 12 more weeks and then started with a babysitter. He never refused the bottle from them, maybe once in a blue moon. But from me, forget it. I was home again (Im a teacher from 8 months-10 months) when I returned to work he did refuse bottles and sippies of breast milk, so we switched to sippies of cows milk wiht no problem. At 23 months, he still nurses on occasion and drinks cows milk. My supply was not effected at all, he still nursed on demand on weekends and evenings. It is work for you to pump and make bottles and clean the parts etc, but other than that it was a simple transition for us.

I went back to work when dd was 12 weeks and managed to pump while at work for the past 4 months. Your supply should be ok if you stick with your 3 hour schedule. Dd never had nipple confusion although it took us 3 or 4 different pacifiers til we found ones she liked (the avent soothie). I would have Dh try to bottle feed dc this weekend while you go out (even if you just go to the store). in the beginning dd didn't like to take bottles from me - prob bc she could smell the milk and was confused as to why I wasn't nursing her and if she saw me it was tough. See how it goes while you are out
