ACA "Obamacare"

I have put an email in to my insurance broker to see if switching over to this plan can help in getting IF coverage.

The website shows that there are quite a few insurance companies in our area participating in the "Market Place Exchange" and that the coverage may be better through them. Including my insurance Oxford.

Doesn't hurt to look into it if you have the time.

The website to get you started is

NY State of Health

From there you can go through all the links or just call the number and speak to someone about your options.
It's very interesting.

According to what I've learned so far, my premiums may not be any cheaper, BUT I may be able to have better coverage... and even more important, I may be able to add the IF rider that I couldn't add before because we are a small business.

I was just at a 3 hour meeting yesterday regarding the healthcare exchange. Be VERY wary. Most of these are using MEDICAID (actually lower, including the Oxford) rates NOT THE TYPICAL OXFORD RATES, so most doctors WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING THEM. Also, the plans include extremely high patient out of pocket expenses (one is a patient OOP expense of 40% and a $6500 deductible before they will even begin paying the 60%).

If your employer offers healthcare coverage, you will not be eligible for any subsidies (and your income must be 400% of the Federal Poverty Level or lower in order to be eligible to begin with).

I would do a lot of research on the plans - and research on your own, also the brokers (from what I understand) are actually NOT going to be offering these plans because they are not getting paid a commission on them. You have to enroll directly through NYSH portal starting next week.
