Another potty training old wives tale??
Ok, in addition to my dad thinking that ds ability to understand "bring me" directions means he is ready to start potty training (in his mind, ds should understand "give me" a poop on the potty), my dad also believes that when he changes ds poop diaper, if he brings the dirty diaper to the toilet and dumps the poop in, that will teach DS that poop "belongs" in the toilet.
Has anyone else ever heard of such a thing?
DESPITE my repeated suggestion to just put the poop diaper in the diaper pail that is right there, my dad insists on carrying a poop diaper across the room, down the hall, to the bathroom, dropping the poop in the toilet, then bringing the empty diaper back to the diaper pail.
I don't doubt that some 18 month olds are ready for potty training, but my kid is not even close, and these are sure as hell not the methods I would use to teach him about using the potty.

I have heard that when you are potty trading lo if they go in their diaper or underwear you bring it to the toilet to show them that's where it goes. Never heard of doing that before you start potty training.
