fresh vs frozen sample for IUI
Does anyone know if there is less of a success using frozen sperm vs fresh for an IUI? I am trying to go over my options going forward. Since DH works nights he needs to leave work early to get to the RE to drop off the sample before my IUIs. I am going to look at other RE's eventually and I know some of them do b2b IUI"s which would be hard for DH if he is working to get out of work two mornings in a row. I know there is an option to freeze the sample, but just wanted to know if anyone knew the statistics/outcome of using frozen sperm vs. fresh. Thanks!

Fresh is always better than frozen, but frozen still fine - especially if you aren't dealing with MFI.
Not that you asked about it, but there is nothing proven that B2B IUIs are more effective than 1 really well-times IUI at about 36 hours post trigger.

Thanks! Yeah I suppose I could ask the RE's that typically do B2B if there is a chance I can do only one. DH's post wash count has ranged anywhere from 5-30 million (last cycle was 8 million) so I am not sure if frozen would cut that down even more.

Also, check with your insurance. I called and asked my RE and they said it's $300 plus because GHI doesn't cover frozen for IUI.

Iif it helps at all, DH works nights and was only to come w me if Iui was a weekend. Long story short we are 13 weeks preg with frozen sperm
