? about sperm sample and IUI
my procedure was today.
I dropped off my husbands sample at 7:15am this morning and my IUI procedure was at 2:00pm.
Should I be concerned that it was too long of a wait? Or am I being overly paranoid.

I did the same thing the last time and I think that they hyperstimulate the sperm which keeps them alive longer. I think some start dying about 1 hour after from temp changes

Unfortunetly it didnt work for us. We have the same issue as you. I am starting clomid to increase the 'targets' for them to hit. Hopefully this means that they get one. Good luck to you on your IUI and a BFP.

Re: ? about sperm sample and IUI
Ask you doctor about your concern, maybe there are different methods. My DH had to produce the sample at home, get in there within an hour, and then we had to wait about an hour for them to prep the sperm and do the IUI. I would say that no more 2 hours passed from when we obtained the sample and had the iui done.

Re: ? about sperm sample and IUI
Current research indicates that washed sperm can live 24-72 hours; however, it does lose potency after 24 hours. Another issue with IUI is that the sperm can keep on swimming beyond the fallopian tube, so the ideal window is really within 6-12 hours of the egg being released, with a larger margin before ovulation than after since the egg's viability is shorter. Sperm can live up to 5 days in fertile mucus, 2-3 days being pretty common, so combining IUI with intercourse provide better coverage.

Re: ? about sperm sample and IUI
nope, my Dr said they have to be delivered within the hour from the sample being "made", after they wash them and whatnot, you can wait just about all day.
Good Luck
