what can i do about the 5:30am wakeup?

DD goes to sleep between 7:15-8:00pm. anywhere between there. now she falls asleep on her own and finally sleeps through the night... well until 5:30. Usually it seems at 5:30 is when she poops or is at least trying to poop. If she goes, then sometimes she will stay content until 6:00. otherwise she is screaming at the top of her lungs to be picked up by 5:45. I just CANT wake up this early anymore. I am exhausted. We just finally got her STTN (we did CIO sort of) is there anything I can do to push her wake up time an hour? starting to wake at 6:30 would be a whole lot better for us than 5:30!

Re: what can i do about the 5:30am wakeup?

This was my one twins exact routine!! she had been going to 6:15 then started in with this 4:30 / 5:30 crapola. I Shushed through the baby monitor and she would go back down til 6:15/6:30. Then she would sleep til 6:45 and wake up and play, not cry. Until last night when she woke at 5 am again. I'm wondering if its teeth though b/c she also woke at 10 and has been sticking her tongue out ALL day long on her gums.

do whatever you did to get her to sttn, but keep in mind it may not be as effective since she is more alert at that time

I don't think there is anything you can do---that is 10 hours of sleep, so she just might be done. Is she taking a good nap during the day?

IMO you're better off having her learn to play in her crib, not necessarily go back to sleep.

I can only get 10 hours of sleep out of DS. To avoid 5:30am wake ups, I put him to sleep later.

Can you feed her and out her back down for an hour or two?

DS 2 has spurts like this - either he has to poop or his tooth or ear is bothering him and he's too awake to go back to sleep but, not awake enough to be pleasant.

Since she's pooping or needs to poop - I don't think there is a ton you can do - but, these phases don't last forever.

When my DS was waking up at that time I would give him his bottle then put him back in the crib. He would fall asleep for another 2 hours.

My Twins are 22 months & still wake up at 6am....there is really nothing you can do. Some kids like to get up early. If you are tired then maybe try & go to bed earlier when she sleeps???

Can you keep her up later at night? With my twins even if I put them to bed later, they still wake up.

if i put her to bed later, she still wakes up at the same time. some days she wakes up and im ok with it because shes in a good mood and just wants to be up. i cant stand when she wakes up ay 530 and it seems shes exhausted and should have slept more but just isnt going back to sleep even though she obviously needed it

How about trying CIO? My friends son was waking at 5-5:30am, eating and then going back down. At 6 mos she did CIO at that time for 3 days and he finally started sleeping 12 hours.

This has been happening with us every now and then as well anywhere from 4am-5am. DD goes to bed anywhere from 7-8 and will sleep through the night anywhere from 4-6. Usually she wakes up with a dirty diaper and then will scream so we will also give her a bottle which she finishes quickly and falls back into a deep sleep for about 2 hours.
I don't mind because she is sleeping for a decent amount if time. Some people say to just put her to bed later, but I hate forcing her to stay up if she's tired.
