I have 2 kids from prior marriage. ages 9 and 14. My boyfriend has no kids never married. I would consider having one but Im 42 now and it wouldn't be for year or 2.Were only dating 9 months. He said if its not in the cards to have he would be ok with that or adopt(he says that now,hes younger then me.

Re: Your thoughts on having a baby over 40
my mother was 40 when my brother was born. easy pregnancy, easy labor. (she went to her appointment and was 5 cm. the doctor insisted she go to the hospital. she came home instead, cooked us dinner, then went. he popped out 20 minutes after she got there, completely natural. no epi or anything) that part went well.
however, as the kid sister who always got stuck watching the baby, it was not ideal. also, but that point you don't have as much energy or will to run around after a toddler. it was definitely different for him than for me. i think for him it felt like he was an only child with three parents.
lol.
i would consider not just the physical but emotional implications for all concerned.

Re: Your thoughts on having a baby over 40
My aunt was 40 when her first was born and 43 when her second was born. If you are healthy and have no health issues go for it. I would definately consult with a RE first to see what your options are.

Your thoughts on having a baby over 40
My mom had me when she was 40 with no issues. She already had 2 kids from a previous marriage and my father wanted to have a baby. My siblings are 10 and 20 yrs older than me. If your physically able to and want to have another baby I dont see why not.

Your thoughts on having a baby over 40
I see no reason why not, but like another poster mentioned, I would consult with an RE when you decide to try. You will most likely be monitored more during the first trimester. My aunts friend had her first when she was 41, and her second at 43- both healthy and uneventful pregnancies, but she went straight to an RE.
Best of luck

Your thoughts on having a baby over 40
I had my 2nd child at 41 - no issues with the pregnancy - she's perfect!! I did IVF to get pregnant but I had trouble getting pregnant with my 1st as well - got pregnant via IUI at 38 - Unexplained infertility. If you try for a few months with no luck - see an RE.

I think it is perfectly fine, and normal to have children into your 40's, its becoming much more the norm, of women having children later in life. Good Luck!!!

I think it depends on how you feel about it and how you feel physically.

Your thoughts on having a baby over 40
How do you feel about having kids? You mentioned his interest but you have only been together 9 months....to consider having or adopting children means you BOTH want to be parents at this time in your life. And if you don't that is totally ok too. What does your heart say?

Why would you need to consult with a RE before trying? Just curious. My mom had my sister at 41. She was a surprise.

Re: Your thoughts on having a baby over 40
I'm very, I mean very close to 40. I been trying for a long time now. I haven't consulted with a RE as yet. I let my GYN know and she did some tests and checking and that's all I'm doing for now. I plan on see one in the near future because of different issues.
But, really it's up to you and how you both feel. Good luck
