Re: Forbidden Foods & beverage guidelines
All of my friends say it's OK too - you really have to understand that just because one doc says how they feel, that it doesn't mean it is right or wrong. It is an OPINION. Everyone's docs are different. I really wish that we could all respect our differences and understand that each medical professional is going to differ slightly and that doesn't mean that it is right or wrong. I have friends that ate and did all of what you are talking about and their babies are gorgeous and so healthy! I'm not saying it's wrong. I'm just saying MY doc said no for ME and I didn't say BOO because I have never eaten sushi or coffee in my life so why beg for something I do not like?! And the wine - ehh, take it or leave it. Again, I just wish we could all respect each other and support each other in our differences, especially when the differences have to do with a third party: our doctor, whom I have no control over.

I get it. I just thought it was funny that as this thread is going on, that article appeared on my newsfeed.

Re: Forbidden Foods & beverage guidelines
My Dr is def on the other side of extreme. He told me to avoid nothing aside from swordfish and tilefish. He said he has seen and you have a greater chance of having issues with more common foods such as fruits and veggies. Also, he said the most issues with food % wise (like food poisoning, etc.) is with chicken, but nobody thinks twice about eating chicken.
When I was pregnant with DD#1 there was a big listeria (I think) outbreak with cantaloupe and it was all recalled. I have eaten almost 100% of the items listed in this post during both my pregnancies and probably within the last week. I was shocked to see honey listed. Ive never heard of that and have ironically been addicted to honey this pregnancy....and Ive been eating raw honey lately. In the end it boils down to moderation and what you are personally comfortable with. So if you think you are harming yourself or your child by eating cheese, don't eat it. Whatever works for YOU.

Re: Forbidden Foods & beverage guidelines
I actually just got off the phone with my mother and her craving when she was pregnant with me was........tuna fish and mozzarella. The tuna was in the can & she said she couldn't remember if the mozzarella was fresh or not but she had a healthy pregnancy. Cold cuts, hot dogs, sushi are not an issue for me because I don't eat them. I'm a cheese person so I will just be more careful w cheeses.
