Regular contractions that stop (BTDT or girls at end)

Just curious if anyone had regular contractions that just ended. Tuesday night I had a dr appt and my dr said that he thought would be coming any day. He said her head was very low but my cervix was still closed. I went home, had dinner and around 8pm started having regular contraction that were consistently 12 minutes apart (lasted between 45sec and 1min 30sec)
Around 11pm I was comfortable enough to sleep. When I woke up Wednesday morning I felt like a million bucks and I haven't had regular contractions since. (A few BH here and there and some pressure when she moves but that's it).
I know she will come when she is ready, I just am confused why regular contractions would just end.

I had them on and off with my last two kids. The real thing was different though, more crampy. Hang in there! I heard the more practice contractions you have the less you'll have in labor and it proved right for me. Had them all the time (regular, timeable, that would stop before getting to 5 min apart, 1 min long) with my third and she was born 3.5 hours after the crampy contractions started.

My doc said that it's normal to have a few strong ones consistently and then nothing.

He said it should be consistent for 2 hours or so.

I had this at the end with DS. I would have timeable contractions but they never got closer together or more intense. It was frustrating bc I kept thinking it was it then I would fall asleep and wake up feeling fine! When I had real contractions they started off mild and got more and more painful and closer together. My water broke first though so I knew I was in labor!
