I think 4-6 percent is the normal but more towards 4 percent.

It depends on who you sign with. When we sold, we paid 3%, but only because the selling agent was also the buyer's agent and she was doing us a favor so we could buy our new house (which she then made 2.5% commission on).

Oh I see.. yea we are leaving the state so she wont be making anymore money from us. Although she did sell us this house 4 years ago lol. We are very friendly with her though so I think once we go to sign stuff II may ask if the 5% is normal of if maybe we can do 4%... Is that rude of me??

we were just quoted 4%
We are North Shore Suffolk, not sure if location has much to do with % being charged.

I paid 3.5 percent if my agent sold it directly (Not through MLS agent).

I received quotes form 4-6%. They "say" it's better it do 5 or 6 bc it's more attractive for realtors to push our house. I don't know how true this really s.
