Questions Realtor?
Does your realtor find listings for you to look at or do you find them and tell your realtor about them and then go see them?
I am just confused to how this works.. it seems that our realtor is letting us do all the leg work... and I am getting frustrated because shouldn't she be coming up with some houses for us to look at as well (she knows what we want).

Re: Questions Realtor?
both
although lately, we've been telling her about houses we want to see and she meets us there. but to be fair, she has taken us to several dozen houses since we've been working with her (for the past 6-7 months).

Re: Questions Realtor?
Our realtor would send us new listings every Wednesday/Thursday, we would tell her which ones we wanted to see over the weekend. If it was a house we thought or she thought would go fast and that we would like, we didn't wait until the weekend to see it.
I have to say, our realtor was right on the $$ knowing which properties to show us.

both. We worked with her for about 6-7 months. We would look and she would look and we would travel together or meet each other at the house.
Our realtor (who was so great!!!) found our house for us. It was in a town we never considered.

Re: Questions Realtor?
Both but I would work with several realtors at a time to try and cover some areas. Also some of the realtors had exclusives that weren't on multiple listings. Remember the realtor works for the seller.

Re: Questions Realtor?
I agree - it goes both ways. You should definitely keep an eye out on the real estate sites such as MLSLI and let the re agent know what you want to see. Also, keep track of what you actually see with the re agent. Any homes that they don't show you (not always easy to get an appt, etc) you might want to try to call on your own for an appt if you are really interested.

Re: Questions Realtor?
They SHOULD be getting you the info but I found myself finding them first. Thats why we bought w/out a realtor and saved a buttload of cash!
If your doing the legwork, I wouldnt bring in the realtor.

Re: Questions Realtor?
Unless you are using a buyers agent - I would recommend that if you find a house on you own, that your realtor hasnt mentioned to you - call the listing agent for that house directly and make an appointment to see it.
As a seller, it would have saved me 1% if the listing agent had sold the house. I would have been willing to consider lower offers in that case. It may not be much money, but every little bit counts. Unless it becomes too much of a pain doing it this way!
