nighttime milk for toddler

Question. Ds is 14m and we do milk in sippy in morning and water etc throughout the day. The last babbbby baby routine I have is 8oz milk in bottle with cuddle time before bed. Then he plays a bit and then off to sleep. My question is when did u stop milk before bedtime? He really enjoys the routine and so do I but not sure if he's too old now for this? And if I do stop I am super afraid he won't get the clues for bedtime. Thoughts or suggestions?

Re: nighttime milk for toddler

I stopped the bedtime bottle with DD 1 right after her first birthday. instead of sitting in the recliner and drinking a bottle we sat in the recliner and read a book - we still do to this day and DD is 3

DD 2 is 13 months and I am hoping to break the bedtime bottle habit in the next few weeks. We will again replace it with a bedtime book.

ETA- DD's still get milk three times a day ( breakfast, lunch and dinner) in a sippy cup as well as water

My 17mo still gets his milk in babas. He refuses to drink it I sippy cups. They're still just babies IMO, and milk is still important at this age.

Re: nighttime milk for toddler

My DS is 3 and still loves to have his milk. He doesnt get it to go to bed but he does get a cup after his nap (and still gets one when he wakes.)

If he wants it before bed give it to him, its good for him

My DD still drinks her nighttime milk at 20 months. I think drinking milk is important for her. She drinks it out of a straw cup and watches a show about 1/2-1 hour before bedtime.

Milk is fine at night. We transitioned from a bottle to a cup at 15 months. You just have to make sure that you brush their teeth after they finish and prior to going to sleep for the night.

My almost-4yo DS still has his milk in a cup with stories before bed and at "storytime" around 2pm. He's not a great drinker, so this way at least I know he is getting the 2 cups of milk.

A little before she turned 1. She gets milk as soon as she wakes up, with lunch, and around dinner time. Our bedtime routine is bath, PJs, book, sing a couple of songs, and bed.

I agree. DS is 16months and still gets a baba before bed. He drinks milk out of a sippy twice a day too. I am in no immediate rush to get rid of the last bottle and the dr said it was fine but to do it before two. I will probably give it a shot at 18 months. I feel like 12 months is so young to cut out all bottles even though that is the recommendation but thats just me!

DS #1 was almost 4 I think when we said good-bye to the night time bottle and DS #2 was 14 months younger as the older one through out all the bottles for the both of them at the same time :)
