Hair Dye VERY early
Hi ladies!!!
I am back here as I just got my BFP this Tuesday (11dpo) after a loss in March. I am SO happy yet anxious!
The first question I have is about hair dye. I'm only about 3-4 weeks along and I have an appt tomorrow at 9am. My roots look absolutely horrible to the point where people are talking to my head not me!! Also I'm going to Block Islamd next weekend for a vacation with people who will not know I'm pregnant.
Do you girls think I could dye my hair tomorrow or is it too risky? I'm wondering since its SO early is it maybe OK?
TIA

Re: Hair Dye VERY early
Last time I dyed my hair around the same time and I cannot remember if i was told it was ok or not. But knowing that i wasnt going to be able to do it for a long while I needed to. When I went for my 10 week appt my OB told me no dye but highligts were ok cause they didnt go to the root. I dont know what I am going to do this time around cause my roots grow out so fast im doomed. And Congratulations!!!

Re: Hair Dye VERY early
I got high and low lites before I knew I was pregnant. Had no ill effects. Not sure though if it's different because it's foils and not directly on the scalp. Can you call your docs and ask?

Re: Hair Dye VERY early
I was only told no perming and no keratin treatments.
I still waited until I was almost 10 weeks to dye my hair -- you might want to mention to your hair person before you head in... and see if they have special dye they can use?

My dr is on vacation and the nurse said different doctors say different things!

Last time I was there a pregnant woman was getting her hair done and I heard my hairdresser say it was "something" free. Not sure what though. Just really conflicted.

Re: Hair Dye VERY early
Try an Aveda salon. I believe they are 98% natural, but I'm not completely sure.

Re: Hair Dye VERY early
My doc said hair dye was ok but other chemical treatments weren't. I dyed my hair during my pregnancy and DD is great!

Re: Hair Dye VERY early
I just used the vegetable hair dye from whole foods while I was PG. None of the chemicals in normal hair dye.

Re: Hair Dye VERY early
I would wait until you're in your second trimester. Or if you're getting highlights, you could do that early on since they don't touch the scalp. From what I've heard, dye has had minimal if no effect on the development of a baby because so little is able to pass through your system.

Re: Hair Dye VERY early
i was told to wait till 2nd trimester- but my salon actually has vegetable based dye that they can use- so if its that, it would probably be ok

Re: Hair Dye VERY early
My doctor gives out a sheet of info. Their group says hair dye is safe through out pregnancies but keratin treatments and what not are not.

Re: Hair Dye VERY early
I went and my hairdresser had all natural stuff that they use for pregnancies. It doesn't last as long and fades in the sun but better than nothing. Still going on wait until second trimester for next time! Thanks everyone!!
