Is anyone else overwhelmed with registering?

I went online to BBB last night to start registering for a few things. I felt completely overwhelmed! And I'm not even talking about the major stuff like strollers or furniture, which I still want to research. Just basic things for the baby. Where/how did you guys begin? How do you know which products are the best? I'm not sure which bottles, pack-n-plays, basic grooming things, etc. to get. Just curious what some of you used as a guide. I was also thinking of registering at BRU and possibly Pottery Barn kids (for furniture and bedding). It just seems like every store specializes in something different. I know that BRU has more in the way of clothing, and Pottery Barn Kids has beautiful bedding available. Please advise as to what's most important to register for. TIA!

I highly suggest purchasing the book Baby Bargains which has amazing reviews of all the items you could need. Its not about how to save the most money, it tells you what is worth spending on even if it isn't the cheapest.

I took a BTDT mom with me to register.. She was able to tell me what was necessary and what she used and was helpful. If you want you can look at my registry. It's from BRU but it'l give you an idea of what to get. FM me if you are interested.

I agree with this! I used this book for everything. I got the BRU checklist and did some research with the Baby Bargains book before I even went. Then i asked some ladies on here to share their registries so I could make sure I wasn't forgetting anything!

Good luck and take your time! It should be fun!!Chat Icon

Re: Is anyone else overwhelmed with registering?

I brought my stepsister who has 2 boys under 5 and she was a big help- otherwise I would be totally clueless and I am not one to read books no patience for that on what to buy and not buy.

Besides all of the suggestions listed here, I'd also read the reviews of the products that moms give on the BRU website. I started registering online and added a few things at a time. Then I went to the store after I did some research on product safety. You may want to check Consumers Reports. It gives you some great ideas. You can check Consumers Report online as well.
Have fun and enjoy. Chat Icon

I agree with the other ladies-buy the baby bargains book. It helped me a lot. I also brought my sister, who has 3 children, and she really helped with what products I'd definitely need and those I could do without. Good luck!

This site also has a registry with parent reviews- so you can read up on this stuff from other parents.
