Excited to be a BIG sister!!!

Feeling like a failure... I had to give in and take z-PAC.

I am so sick and miserable with a sinus infection (2nd one this pregnancy). I've been in bed for three days now and nothing I do gives me any relief! I feel like I can't breathe, such a horrible feeling!!!! I can't even sleep. Chat Icon I'm beside myself. I finally called the drs emergency line earlier and the dr on call prescribed z-PAC. I really didn't want to take anything, tried to use netti pot, saline sprays, steam, humidifier, but nothing's giving me relief. So I decided to take the z PAC and now I'm feeling SO GUILTY!!!!! Chat Icon I obviously always want to try to do what's best for the baby. Dreading tonight because I know I won't sleep!

The Z-pack is MUCH less dangerous than an infection getting worse and spreading. Don't feel guilty! The baby needs you healthy.

Why would you feel like a failure? Don't be silly, that couldn't be further from the truth. Chat Icon Chat Icon You have to take care of yourself too and get yourself well and taking zpac is not the end of the world, your baby will be perfectly fine and you'll be feeling so much better soon!

With both my pregnancies I ended up needing antibiotics, once with my DD and THREE times with my DS, and they were both born happy and healthy. Your LO will be fine too, don't sweat this..........you're not doing anything wrong. Feel better!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks!! That's what the dr said... That z PAC is very safe and that it would be worse to spike a fever and be REALLY sick. So that's why I broke down and took it. Just hope I'm not harming the baby in any way!?!? Thanks for the support. :). Looking forward to being able to breathe and sleep again.

Unfortunately, there is no way to clear a bacterial infection other than by using an antibiotic. There is not one thing to feel guilty about. You did everything you could, and made sure that the antibiotic is safe to take during pregnancy...you didn't just go to a friend and use whatever she had lying in her medicine cabinet. You did all the right things for your baby! Feel better, and get some rest!

I would have done the same thing (and felt the same way), but as the doc said, it's safe. and you will feel so much better. hope that you already are :)

I had the same issue 2-3 weeks ago. I was so sick and couldnt take it anymore. Doc gave me meds and I broke down and took them. I felt badly about it, but if he felt it was safe I did too. Try to rest and relax to get over the illness.

Re: Feeling like a failure... I had to give in and take z-PAC.

Thanks for the support everyone! Still feeling really crappy (maybe slightly better), but still so lousy!! I just want to be better already!! My MIL took my DD so I could get some rest. Which is so nice and I'm so lucky, but I miss my girl and want to get back into my normal routine!

Today my husband bought me a wrap because I hadn't eaten anything but cereal all day because I had no energy to make or get myself anything and as I'm eating it I have a can of ginger ale and a bottle of salad dressing in front of me which I was putting on my wrap intermittently. I was in such a fog while eating I picked up my ginger ale and poured a decent amount of it all over my wrap thinking it was the dressing!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon I couldn't believe what I had just done!!!!!Chat Icon my husband watched the whole thing in shock and thought to himself it was some weird pregnancy craving I was having!?!?!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks for this. Insomnia has gotten the best of me and I am super cranky at 4:30am. I just read this and couldn't help but chuckle. I think I may have woken up DH in the process!

Feel better!!!!

Glad I could make someone laugh! Lol! I was laughing out loud myself every time I recalled what I did. It was so absurd!!! Preggo brain is one thing (I have some of those funny stories) but sick & preggo brain is even crazier!!!!! Warning- do not operate heavy machinery with sick & preggo brain!!!!Chat Icon
