If you do growth sonos because of high-risk...
Do you do them at your doctor or at another facility? My anatomy scan was at the Center for Prenatal Diagnosis, and due to my history of high blood pressure I need to do growth sonos every 4 weeks for the rest of pregnancy. I did one today (24 weeks) at the same facility, and the consulting doc said I can continue them either there or at my practice. My practice only has sonos certain days of the month so I'm not sure the best plan moving forward. The Center for Prenatal Diagnosis works very closely with my practice so I'm not concerned about that - any thoughts?

I never had any sono's done in my OB office. I had them all done (every 4 wks) at Madonna Perinatal. Like you, the sono appts at my OB office were limited, so it was just easier to go to Madonna. It was no big deal, they sent everything directly to my OB the next day.

I had growth sonos every 2 weeks from 20w on and they were always done at my OBs office. They only do them on Tues and Thurs nights, so I just worked around that schedule. Since they work closely with your practice, I would prob do it at the outside facility so you can be more flexible with scheduling.

I see an OB and a perinatologist and all my sonos (I get a sono weekly but we measure the growth every two weeks) are done at my peri's office.

The Center for Prenatal Diagnosis is the MFM facility within NSUH so I guess it's a bit similar to a peri?
Thanks all! I think just for ease of scheduling the way I do it now makes sense but I'll call my OB Monday and see what they prefer.

Yeah. I've already had a pretty crazy schedule (not as much as some but I go to the OB every 2-3 weeks, sonos every 3-4 weeks so far, the cardiologist every 4 weeks and now they want me to see the anesthesiologist ahead of time). I think by 28 weeks I'll be going at least bi-weekly. Oh well, it's for the baby's and my health!

Oh tell me about it! At 31 weeks I started seeing my OB and perinatologist both weekly. I'm also seeing my cardiologist monthly. If anything, it certainly makes the time fly!

I love the MFM's at NS Manhasset!! I have all my scans there, either one you choose you just have to keep it consistent so they use the same machines for the growth scans.

Re: If you do growth sonos because of high-risk...
We've been getting sonos almost every visit since the anatomy scan because they said baby's kidneys were slightly enlarged. They do them at the office. Sono tech is there at least 3 of 4 afternoons a week so it hasn't been a real problem scheduling. I like being able to do the sono and then go right in to talk to the doctor.

Re: If you do growth sonos because of high-risk...
I was considered high risk and had to do all my sonos at LIJ. It was such a pain having to do regular pregnancy appointments with my doc and then also the sono appointments every 4 weeks in different places. Then at 36 weeks, I had to do weekly appointments in different places. It was a lot of running around at the end to different appointments when I was just so big and tired! I wish my doc had the option to do sonos but they don't.

Re: If you do growth sonos because of high-risk...
I'm having twins. I had three sonos done at a perinatal office associated with Winthrop (12w, 16 w and 20w). That same facility is affiliated with my dr's office so I see the same sonographers. The only difference is when I have a sonogram at my dr., the results are sent over to the main facility where a dr. can read over them but at the main facility a dr. would come in during the appointment and talk to me. I really hated going to the perinatal office b/c it was always really crowded and backed up. I have a growth sono every 3 weeks and a regular sono every time I go to the dr. which has been every week for a while now.
