I failed my glucose test by 3 points!!!
I'm so upset- now I have to do the 3 hour glucose test. The nurse @ my drs office said I could have my blood drawn up to 4-5 times! Anyone have experience with this?

I failed my glucose test by 3 points!!!
I just had my second 3 hour today (don't ask LOL). I am already following the GD diet.
You do need to fast for 12 hours prior (or at least I am always told to do so). I have always had mine done in the early morning. When you arrive they take the first vial of blood and then you drink the glucose drink (orange and lemon-lime are pretty good). After that, for the next 3 hours on the hour, you have a vial of blood drawn. So in total, it is 4 times that your blood is being taken.
I may not be the norm, but I do have reactions each time I have had the 3 hour test (dizziness, cold sweats, shaking) that go away as soon as I have some OJ and a cookie. I don't like that I react that way, but I blame my pre-existing sugar issues (so unless you also have sugar issues, I doubt you'll have a reaction). So don't let this scare you, everyone I know that has taken the 3 hour has never had a reaction like me.
The worst part is the waiting between blood draws. I have become besties with the phlebotomist at the Quest I go to so she lets me sit in my car and come in each hour as long as I promise not to leave. I also bring books and play on my iPad or iPhone. It's just a long test, so be comfy and keep yourself occupied.
ETA: There is nothing to be upset about. It just happens, it's a common part of pregnancy for some women and there's not much to be done except to get the tests done and then see what the DR says.

Re: I failed my glucose test by 3 points!!!
I failed mine. I failed the 3 hour too. Sometimes this happens. The GD diet isn't so bad. I actually feel less tired and nauseous since starting the diet. If I cheat, I feel like crap for the rest of the day. It stinks not being able to eat any ice cream or chocolate but its only for a short time.

I failed my 1 hour by a few points too. I was just as upset as you are.
They will take your blood when you first get there. Then you will drink the sugary drink and they will test your blood at hour 1, 2, and then 3. It's really not that bad. I passed the 3 hour with NO increase at all. It was SUPER annoying that I had to take the test but was happy to know everything was ok.

Re: I failed my glucose test by 3 points!!!
With DD1, I failed the one hour by a lot more than 3 points. I took the 3 hour and passed with flying colors.
