Re: C Section and Good Sam
What!? Totally not true and Lamaze and a c-section have nothing to do with each other lol. They TELL you that you have to take the c-section class and if you both don't then he can't be in the room then they give a certificate that you attended. I had my first there, it was an emergency c-section. We did take the class but when it was time for me to be rushed into the OR they didn't ask dh for his certificate or if he took the class. I switched to stony brook for my second baby and to the stony brook midwives. I asked the one midwife if I had to take a c-section class and she laughed at me and asked if I had my first at Good Sam. She said its the only hospital that tells their patients that and that she used to work there and it's just something they tell you to get you to take the class and that they would never deny the father in the room unless it was a true emergency where the mother had to be put under general anesthesia, then I believe he can't be in the room.

Re: C Section and Good Sam
That makes me feel better. I'm not planning on a c-section but as we all know it's possible. I was thinking about calling Good Sam and finding out.

There is a csection class. So technically it is true but I spoke to my dr about it and he said it the dr that makes the decision if dh is allowed in. My dr said he'd never say no because of a class

Re: C Section and Good Sam
I was told 7 years ago when I had my DD there he had to take a c-section class or couldn't be in there. He took it. But this time no one has said anything to me.

That's insane! I haven't heard of that either! I am not sure which way I will be going. But Dh def is in te room rather it's a C-section or vaginal! Someone told me that will let 2 people in the room, but I can't see how that is true, it's should only be the father of your child!

Re: C Section and Good Sam
Not true.
There used to be a required "Csection class." I'm pretty sure they did away with it in the past few years (we took it with my first).
When push comes to shove- they would never question whether or not you went.
The ONLY reason DH wouldn't be allowed in the room is if you needed general anesthesia for some reason (a friend of mine had this).
ETA: the "class" really had nothing to do with preparing for a possible c-section. I think it was their way to get people in to pre-register.
We had to fill out paperwork, watch a shaken baby video and listened to some stuff about the maternity world.

It is tru but it is up to the Dr in the end. Its just a stupid hosptial policy that no one enforces.
THERE IS NO NEED TO PANIC. Talk to your Dr if you are worried.

I meant the lamaze part. Lamaze has nothing to do with a CSection.
