Talk me down, please!

I just got the BFP yesterday.

Today I came across Clorox toilet bowl cleaner things (like 2000 flushes) and wanted to see if they were safe (I still don't know).

I came across 100 things I've done since being pg that I shouldn't have. I was taking a ton of ibuprofen, and for heaven's sake I cleaned my oven w/ easy off, even got some on my skin.

I know everything is probably totally fine, but ugh. Why won't the dr see me until 7 weeks? I know you can't see anything yet now but how do that expect us to know what to do?!

Did anyone else travel in the first tri? I'm going to Jamaica in just over a week and trying not to freak out. Any advice?

Relax. You haven't done anything wrong. You will go nuts if you try researching every little thing. The DRs usually don't see patients until there is something to see (the sac, a heartbeat). You just need to be secure in the fact that now that you know you're pregnant, you won't smoke/drink/do drugs, you'll take your prenatals and generally just continue live your normal life until the DR sees you and will go over their own personal guidelines for what they recommend during pregnancy.

Don't freak. It's not that serious, you should be enjoying your new BFP and being happy!

Re: Talk me down, please!

Well, now that you know about the BFP just be more conscious about what you're doing. That's all.

I drank about a week after conceiving and was obsessed with eating Feta Cheese at Christmas (about 2 weeks after.) I also took pain and cold meds before my BFP at 4 weeks because I thought I had a really bad cold.

As for traveling during the first Trimester. I won't be planning any trips during my next pregnancy. I know each is different but I felt HORRIBLE for about the first 16w with pure exhaustion and MS (and afternoon/night sickness lol). Some people can. For me, no way. However, my preggo symptoms didn't start until 7 weeks. If you already have a trip planned just go and enjoy.

Re: Talk me down, please!

Let me just tell you.
I didn't know I was pregnant for quite some time.
didn't even take a test till I was almost a month late.
In that time I drank like a fish- I mean I got TRASHED on more than one occassion.
I took Advil like it was going out of style.
I took cold meds as I was sick.
I did everything wrong.
Guess what- my DD was born 100% perfect.
Just remember that at this early stage, the baby is really just cells that are dividing. It does not share a blood supply with you yet.
At my first appt I told my Dr that I had drank. He was like- yeah ok and?
I said- no you don't understand- I mean I REALLY REALLY drank.
He just laughed and said- it's fine.

Trust me- you will be fine.

ITA! Before I knew i was pregnant, my husband and i decided to seal our basement floor with one of those epoxy sealers. When we realized how smelly it was, we joked that would be the month i got preggo, and it was! I was freaking out. But everything turned out fine.

Now that you know, be more conscious about what you do. Congrats!!

Talk me down, please!

It is very difficult to harm your baby. Think about back when moms smoked and drank before they knew all they know now. The whole list of things we can't do or eat is precautionary- because it means there are risks involved, but we all cheat now and then- some deli meat, a tiny glass of wine, coffee... it happens! And 99.9% of the time baby is just fine! No need to worry- now that you know you're pregnant, just be as safe as possible. baby is well-protected in there

You are totally ok. Women go a longer amount of time without knowing they are pregnant and end up having perfectly healthy babies. Try not to worry too much and if you want a list of things to do and not to do call your doctor and see if you can pick one up. At my first appt they gave me a list of meds that were ok to take and not to take, I wish I had it earlier.

I traveled when I was 4-5 weeks pregnant. We went to Mexico. I was SUPER nervous but it turned out to be totally ok. Doctor said to make sure I walk around on the plane a lot to avoid clotting and make sure to stay hydrated!!!!! She also said, even if it was a 5 star resort, only drink bottled water. I felt great on the trip. I was a little tired and got hot VERY easily but nothing that stopped me from doing anything. He continued with our excursions and just told all our tour guides that I was in the beginning of my pregnancy and might need to rest every so often, they were GREAT about it.

Also, your skin sensitivity can change while pregnant so makes sure to use plenty of sunblock. My doctor told me "if you usually use 15, use 30".
