Ok, I am curious, which of these applies to you?
ETA: We rent on LI right now. Can we say WASTE OF MONEY?!?!?!?

Lucky for us I am living in an apt. in Queens rent free - my il's own a lot of property in the area and rent them out.
They are letting us live here to save money so he have a nice big downpayment on a house.
And eventually the house I live in along with others will be passed down to DH one day.

We are in the same situation. I live in a rent-free apartment owned by my MIL. I bank my entire check and some of DH's and we live off of the remiander of DH's check.

My parents did this quite a few times and it paid for both my sister's and my weddings AND their brand new townhouse

Currently live in parents coop in QNS, just pay the maintanence on the place. But our in contract with a home in NY in qns...have not closed yet.
