Eyeliner Question

I will be the first to admit that I am a complete spazz when it comes to eye makeup. I feel like I never ever put it on the right way. I've watched some different you tube videos and have learned some different techniques, but still feel like a spazz. I always tell DH that I want makeup application lessons.
In any case, I'm coming to the experts on here for a specific question. Can't find my answer on you tube because I don't know how to describe it!

In the picture below, the way how model's eyeliner is darker and thicker at the outer corners of her eyes...how do you get that look? I see this look everywhere yet have no idea how to get it!!

Thanks for helping a makeup dork!

Re: Eyeliner Question

So they're smudging the eyeliner or eyeshadow on top of it?

Re: Eyeliner Question

On the bottom it looks like there is eye shadow over the liner and they use a darker color on the outer edge. You can do this the same way you'd do shadow on the lid0. Use two colors & gently blend.

On the top, the actual line looks thicker. It looks like it might be a gel liner.

I don't really know how to explain without sounding like a jackass & just saying make the line thicker. Chat Icon Just angle it away from your lashline as you go out & fill in if necessary.

If you are using a liquid on a brush, you can use the side of the brush to make it thicker.

It might help to start a the center of your eye & go out & then go back to the middle & go in, sticking closer to the lash line.

Re: Eyeliner Question

Thanks, ladies. Tourist, I get what you're saying...just not sure if I am capable of it! I use pencil liner, is that do-able with that? Have never tried gel...

The bottom looks like a pencil liner with a darker, shadow liner over it. So use your usual pencil liner, then get a VERY thin liner brush and some dark shadow (dark gray, navy, or black for a very heavy look), use the liner brush to apply the shadow liner over the outer portion where it looks thickest, and then you can either use a smudging brush or your finger to literally just smudge it around a bit.

For the top lid, you CAN get a thicker line with the pencil, and then again smudge with a smudge brush or your finger, or you can repeat the process I described for the bottom lid.

Hope that makes sense!

Re: Eyeliner Question

Look for "Smokey Cat-Eye" tutorials.
It's similar and will give you the basics to get this look! HTH!

Re: Eyeliner Question

a good trick I learned was to first lightly apply a pencil liner and then trace over it with the liquid or gel liner. It really helps because I do not have a steady hand, so it's nice to have a guide.
