Ovulation and Body Temp?
First off, I'm new to the boards, so hi! And here's my question- sorry if it was posted elsewhere but I didn't see it. Does anyone know anything about temperature and ovulation. I have been trying to conceive and no luck yet. I've been told by a coworker that you can monitor ovulation by temperature. Does anyone have any experience with doing this? Is there a drastic and noticeable change ? Does it get higher or lower ? I know that people have other symptoms of ovulation that are telling for them- but I don't have any cramps or feelings during that time. So this may be a helpful tool for me if I understood it more.

Ovulation and Body Temp?
It's your basal body temp... If you open the first thread on TTC page, it'll go into a bunch of information, in there it goes into temping! Good Luck!

Re: Ovulation and Body Temp?
In order to start temping you need to buy a basal body thermometer at the drugstore. It measures your temperature in one-hundreth of a degree. Basically you need to take and record your tempature at the same time each morning immediately when you wake up before doing anything else (including weekends!) to monitor for temperature changes throughout your cycle. When your temp shows an increase of at least .3 degrees that indicates that you have ovulated on the last day of low temperatures (your temperature rises after ovulation). Your temperature should then stay at these levels until AF arrives (if AF arrives you should see a dip in temp around the time AF comes, if you are pregnant your temp should stay elevated).
Temping is not really useful for predicting when you will ovulate because by the time you have seen an increase in temps, you have already ovulated.
A lot of girls on here use Fertility Friend app or website to record their temps. It gets to know your cycle and helps to predict your O date based on your temps and any other methods that you use to predict ovulation (OPKs/CBEFM). Fertility Friend also has a ton of "lessons" on their website to explain charting/temping.

All of this. I got my Basal Thermometer at Target. I use temping to confirm ovulation and the CBEFM to predict it. I chart my temps and CBEFM readings on Fertility Friend. I also find temping helpful because I don't go crazy POAS. I can tell towards the end of my 2WW if AF is coming b/c my temps start to drop and therefore I know I don't need to waste a test.
