Help my house smell good!

Every time I walk into my house it smells stale and blah.

What do you use to make your house smell good. Candles are a no go bc I have young kids and I feel like the plug in scents are too strong or chemical smelling?

I've heard it recommended that sellers boil a small pot of water with cinnamon &/or vanilla (I think) to make the house smell better.

I've heard good things about boiling orange peels in water with either some cinnamon or vanilla mixed in

I too want to try the boiled citrus peels. I have also heard of putting some vanilla extract in a mug and putting it in the oven on low.

Right now I am using Febreze Set & Refresh and they're working well. DH refuses to let me have candles or Plug-Ins.

Re: Help my house smell good!

Get infusion sticks. They smell really good. Can use different ones in different rooms.

Here is what came up when I googled.

Fresh flowers. I've been getting lilies from Shoprite for $7.99 a bunch and they last about 2-3 weeks and smell amazing!

Otherwise I use the plug in bulb things from Bath & Body Works.

I hear nothing but great things about Scentsy products, but I have yet to try them.

love the Airwick plugins... I have them all over my house - French Vanilla - and I don't find their smell to be chemically at all. I think it depends what scent you get.

Scentsy products are great!! No flame to worry about, plug in and that is it. So many scents to pick from and it's not overpowering.

Michele McFadden is a vendor on here that sells it so check it out.

I leave Scentsy plugged in for an hour plus opening every window in the house. I like the way my scentsy smells when mixed with fresh air.

I hate scents...DH went out and bought a febreeze block thing.

I came into today and I asked if he bought melon. The scent was supposed to be linen, but at least i thought it was a real scent. It wasn't over powering

Re: Help my house smell good!

I buy the odor absorbing gel beads from Lowes. They give off a slight fragrance, but seem to absorb odors. I feel like they take the stale, closed in smell out of the room without overpowering it will fragrance. I have it in a clean linen smell in a bunch of rooms and it just freshens the air a bit.

Like many others have said...Scentsy! Depending on the size of the room/s would depend on the size of burner you would need. There is also 80+ scents so you wont have a problem finding one you like. Any other specific questions feel free to ask!

I like to use dried Eucalyptus -- I don't really like the look of it, so I hide it around my house and the smell take a while to fade.

I love the Yankee Candle Odor Eliminating Concentrated Room Spray (had to look on the bottle for the exact name). It is only 1.5 oz size, but one short spray freshens the whole room. Using the Lemon Lavender scent right now - awesome!

Re: Help my house smell good!

Once in awhile I get plug ins but they only seem to last for a little bit. I tend to burn a big candle in my kitchen when I am home and I find the best thing is opening up my windows and doors to let in some fresh air.

I also vacuum with a baking soda based carpet freshner at least twice a week.

I leave it set for a good 30 minutes at least.

I have pets so I am always nervous my house is going to smell but friends and family have told me that you can't tell we have pets when they walk into our home.

I use Scentsy and the knock offs. Walmart has the warmers, I like their plug in nightlight type ones, they have a lid on them to keep little hands and animal noses out (Scentsy ones don't have lids). They are inexpensive and I love their designs. Their wax is fine too. I use theirs and the Scentsy stuff. Walmart is $2, Scentsy is $5 for a package of wax.

I boil a mixture of water, sliced ginger, lavender oil and lemongrass oil.

Also, put some fabric softener in a bucket of water and wipe down walls with it.
