Getting tired of all the bloodwork
I know its part of the process and if we have a good end result it will be worth it but my arms are starting to look like a heroin addicts arms.
I've had bloodwork 6 days in a row now! Not to mention my co-pay is 25 bucks everytime i walk into the office.
I'm too embarrassed to wear short sleeve shirts!

Re: Getting tired of all the bloodwork
I know how you feel.. I have had so much blood taken over the last 2 weeks..between that and the injections each night. Thankfully I had my iui today so it will be at least 2 weeks before another needle touches me. The nurse even had trouble last week getting my blood and had to switch arms so I had to get poked twice that day
Hang in there- hopefully the end result will be worth it!

Getting tired of all the bloodwork
I feel you. I have bad veins. This morning at 6am I was poked on the right and they couldn't get any blood. Then on to the left which worked but I have a huge mark. I wore a sweater over my short sleeve shirt all day at work. Hang in there.

Re: Getting tired of all the bloodwork
I can totally relate. It's all so much sometimes. I have bad veins and the new nurse at my RE wasn't very skilled. I'd get poked a minimum of 4x every time. It was hell. Currently taking a break from the RE since our loss. I'm just not ready to start all that again.

Getting tired of all the bloodwork
It's awful. Sometimes its your viens and sometimes it depends on the nurse's skill level. They always had trouble finding a vein on me and would poke around. There was one nurse who was more skilled than others and I wanted to ask for her everytime but didn't because I didn't want to offend anyone. My 4th ivf, I was all hormonal and worrying about not getting a bfp was making me very emotional and looking at the purple bruises made me feel worse. I finally spoke up and requested a nurse who was very gentle and better at finding a vein. Couple of times she wasn't available but when she was there, they would send me to her. I don't know if that's an option for you but if it is, ask for a nurse who has experience with small veins. Best of luck!

Re: Getting tired of all the bloodwork
I know how you feel, it stinks....try not to think of the costs every time you go in there... I used to do that and worry myself over how much I spent but the end result will be worth it!!
I will say, after all the bloodwork I got done, I know what to tell every nurse drawing blood from me going forward, the exact spot to stick the needle (since I have barely any veins and they are small!) so I am not repeatedly stabbed unnecessarily!

Getting tired of all the bloodwork
Had my 2nd IUI today so I thought I was safe from the needle but no! Apparently I had some missing bloodwork and had to get more blood drawn this morning. Seriously?

Re: Getting tired of all the bloodwork
Yes the human pin cushion. That is what us IF ladies get to be. I switched arms today just to shake things up. I got a nice bruise brewing. I have psoriasis and every time I get blood taken i get a new patch. Running out of arm space for them to draw! Here's to hoping we all do not have to endure this much longer!

Getting tired of all the bloodwork
The blood work definitely s*cks! I did IVF so my arms were covered in bruises from all the blood work and my stomach was covered in bruises from the injections!
Try to hang in there, once you get your BFP all those bruises will be totally worth it! Now it's just my azz that's covered in bruises from the PIO shots! LOL

Getting tired of all the bloodwork
it really sucks... one of the phlebotomists told me to stop using my left arm... that my vein is about to collapse

Re: Getting tired of all the bloodwork
Seriously I joked they should just set up a permanent port in my arm when I was doing IVF because I was getting blood drawn so often.
Once I saw my dh's cousin who was pregnant and she said she had a bruise on her arm from when she had bloodwork done to test for gestational diabetes. One round of bloodwork- and a bruise I could not see. I was like .. oh hun .. you don't know the half of it.

Getting tired of all the bloodwork
ugh! i have temperamental veins but thank god, my RE's phlebtomists are awesome! when i was going for the initial workup months ago, i had to go to Quest and they were awful. they could never find my veins and would have to take blood from my hands...ouch, that would hurt! and PennyCat, my pregnant friend was complaining the other day about the bloodwork she had to do...i'm like sweetie that's nothing lol!
