Going back to work after having baby...

Did anyone just feel like you couldnt get into the swing of things?
Anyone start a new job after being on maternity leave?

I have been back to work for a month now - PT 3 days a week... I just feel lost... started a new position and I have no clue what I am doing... feel really stupid...

I dont know what to do

It took me a while to get back into the swing of things. It was like my brain wasn't working. Before I gave birth I was on the ball then I had a baby and I lost it. But it gets better

It's hard enough to go back to work after you have a baby. Starting a new position on top of that is a lot! Give yourself a break. It's only been a month and you've been through a lot of changes all at once. It will get easier with time.

I didn't start a new job but after 3 months I'm still trying to get into the swing of things at home. It's been a difficult balance.

It took me a while also to get back into the swing of things. Things that I had worked on pre-baby were a huge blur. It took a few weeks but my memory of old projects came back eventually, and i got into the habit of working again.

I just started work yesterday after being out for 4 months and I hate it. Life was so much easier staying home and taking care of all my girls. I wish I could afford to be a SAHM.

I agree to give it time. Once you get into a routine, it will be much better. Just give it time!

I definitely feel this way. I've been back at work 3 weeks and I still feel so out of it. I thought preggo brain was bad, but new mommy brain is even worse!

i am going back on the 15th and i actually thought of calling my doctor and asking for a xanax script

i was sitting at a light yesterday in the car and my brain was just going going going, trying to figure out how we will do everything with 2, pay for everything, not loose our minds and xanax popped into my head

my anxiety is at an all time high. i am now just trying not to overthink things. i am telling myself that it WILL take time to get back into a NEW routine. I also feel sick to my stomach over the guilt of now having to split what little time i have with my kids between two, not just one. Its hard but in the end, worth it.

take it ONE day at a time. One hour or even minute at a time if you need to. Do NOT over think things or try to plan every little detail. You are only setting yourself up for defeat that way. (now if i could only take my own advice, maybe i wouldn't want that xanax so badly)

Ugh it's the worst..not gonna lie. Just be thankful you are working part time. I came back Full time and cried the whole first week. Hang in there, it will get better.

Ive been back to work for a few months now and just started to feel a little more on the bal. I felt just like you did. Your just being hard on yourself. It foes get better but its def different. My dd is always on my mind and i cant wait to get home to her. Like you i work 3 days a week and ill be honwst im not loving my job the way i used to. I just miss my dd and i dont feel as sharp as i did pre birth. Or evrn pre pregnancy. During pregnancy i had pregnancy brain and now i have mommy brain.

Yup I felt like my brain wasn't working either. I was forgetful; and couldn't formulate sentences! It's week 3 now and it's getting better (slowly)

It's difficult - it's still difficult b/c you have other priorities now.
You'll get back into it - it just takes a little while.

Thanks ladies... I keep saying just about everything everyone said... I just feel like eventually my boss is gonna say enough is enough... she has no kids and is really intense.

I keep saying that if this new job doesnt work out I will change either internally or look for something externally... At some point soon I will go back to 5 days and it is what it is...
It's true all a blur and definitely a whole other set of priorities.

In the end I want to be succesful in my new job and just feel like basic things arent clicking...I suppose it will pass

I appreciate everyones support and advice... Im saving my own post for encouragement
