plus size mommies to be

I'm having a hard time with maternity clothes. All my life I was always hiding my belly and now it is so strange for me to embrace it. Im 14 weeks. I have a little pouch. When I try on clothes I just feel and look fat, not pg. Maybe once I have pg belly then maybe I'll feel comfortable showing it off. Right now im still waiting baggy clothes. Anyone else feel this way?

I'm not a plus size but I was no where near a size 0 when I got pregnant. I was more like a size 8/10 depending on the cut. I remember until I popped I would try on clothes and ask DH "pregnant or fat". It was SO annoying!! I found that the umpire waist shirts helped make me look more pregnant then fat. Try those...otherwise just wear what you would normally wear. I'm 27.5 weeks and strangers JUST started to ask me "when are you due" so I guess up until now I just looked like I didn't know how to dress.

Just crashing and I want to say that I know how you feel. I was plus sized to begin with and so many times I felt I just looked bloated or fat when I started getting the bump.

But after a little while I started to pop and embrace the belly. It wasn't until about 18-20 wks that the belly was more apparent and from that point on I made sure to wear maternity stuff that was a little tighter than I normally would like to show off my proud belly. You will get there I promise!

I know how you feel. I dont think I showed til about 24? weeks. I feel like I just looked fat til then and after that people could maybe sorta tell I was pregnant. I had good luck with pants at motherhood and tops at Gap and target. Some motherhood tanks. I did umpire dresses at ON and Target too. Most of my tops were just stretch tees and tanks with cardis so my belly showed.

i'm plus size too and struggle with this as well. i'm 22 weeks and feel like i'm just starting to pop although i think people who don't know me think that i'm just fat. when i sit down, i still have two bellies lol! i've had good luck with pants from destination maternity (i LOVE their leggings) and i've bought tops from destination, gap and ON. i have a few that are umpire waist and i definitely look more pregnant in those. i can't wait until i have a huge belly!

I know exactly where you are coming from..I was pre preg a size 14-16 and was in the process of losing weight when I got pregnant...up until 30 weeks I felt that way..now I am almost 33 weeks and look so obviously pregnant..I agree about empire waists..they definitely help give the more "pregnant" look..Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: plus size mommies to be

I know how you feel, I had to go get some clothes yesterday. I'm only 5 five weeks but the bloat is killing me. I'm short waisted to begin with, now I just look big not preggo. I cant wait to start showing.

Hang is there.... Chat Icon Chat Icon

It's annoying until your belly really becomes visible...until then it felt like I was just looking more and more round but not PG :\ You will get there! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I felt the same way. I hid under baggy clothes until I started showing (24ish weeks) and then I felt so much more comfortable wearing tighter shirts so people could see I was pregnant and not just super fat. It gets better. Then I loved showing off my belly!!!
