any other plus size mommies to be?
So today at my first appt the doctor who met with me today (not my usual gyn) went over all the in and outs with me and my dh and basically in less words called me a big fat fatty...and said that "if I only gained ten pounds over the whole pregnancy, that would be great."
I am fine with the fact that im not small and I need to take care of myself especially when prego, but its kinda stressing me now...
Sometimes I can only eat certain things due to morning sickness or other symptoms. I dunno... just venting or seeing if anyone else feels the same pressure
thanks for listening

Ha! My dr said the same thing, but guess what I am up 25lbs at 37 weeks and she said she is very happy with that lol. Its impossible to just gain 10 lbs...don't take them too seriously...

I am sorry that you had to go through that with the dr. That really s u c k s!! I was overweight when I got pregnant and I have diabetes so I was told to watch what I eat, excercise (walking) and try not to gain over 20 lbs. At almost 29 weeks I have gained a little over 10.

Yea, I got a not so nice comment from the doctor on my first visit. It wasn't my regualr doc. Luckily, I saw my doctor next time and he put my mind at ease. He told me I should try to gain 15- 20 lbs tops. So far I have been doing well. I still haven't gained anything at almost 15 weeks. I just don't have much of an appetite.

I am not plus size but I think your dr. is a A$$ and would not let him bother me. (although I am sure it would)
You know what is and what is not good for your baby. I am sorry you had to go through that!

Re: any other plus size mommies to be?
Im very over weight.... and was so afraid of what my Dr. would say when I was pregnant with my first. He was always very supportive and never really said too much about it. I gained about 20 pounds with DD but most of that's was the weight of the baby, placenta, extra blood and fluids etc... Two weeks after I had her I was down to my original weight. I did try to eat healthy....but towards the end it just packs on.
Im now pregnant again with twins and Im freaking out about gaining a lot of weight. Im much hungrier than I was with my first. Im so nervous to go back to the Dr. on Tuesday and step on the scale.

Re: any other plus size mommies to be?
I am also a plus size momma and I have been concerned about my weight since we were TTC. My doctor said that I need to be conscious of what I am eating, that I'm not "eating for two" and not to use the pregnancy as a reason to eat like garbage. They want me to gain between 10-15 lbs. I am currently 12 weeks and I have only gained 1 lb. I am trying to eat as best I can and I figure my body is going to do what it needs to.

I am ,at my appt my dr said that since I was over 180 pounds, he wanted me to see a nutritionist. I am not going to. But that is all he said about it, which made me grateful! I only gained 2 pounds in one month but I think it'll be more next time LOL
