Pitbull and home ins
Just spoke to Liberty Mutual (commack branch) and they didn't have a problem with the dog unless it has a history of biting. It needs to be trained and have proof from the Vet at anytime. Simple and came in under what I expected. :)

Re: Pitbull and home ins
I currently have State Farm and I have to call them this weekend to add my Cane Corso. Now I'm getting nervous.

Pitbull and home ins
Wow, I had no idea this was an issue. I don't recall being asked about a dog when we got our ins- we didn't have one at the time but now we have a beagle.

oh good to know i have been wondering how this is even legal or fair to deny just based on the breed.
Any breed could be vicious
They base this on statistics. I am actually in favor of this being passed because it's all about how you raise the dog. Unfortunatly it is what it is for now.
Metlife does not write home on Long Island, and Narr Bay will not write with that breed of dog.
unless this just changed in the past couple of months i got a quoted for both in sepetemeber when i closed on my house.
Metlife was actually through my job and the only reason i didnt go with them is because Statefarm came in slightly cheaper
I am pretty sure the program Metlife offers through certain companies are different than their guidelines for the regular market. We haven't been able to write a homeowner policy through them for a coupl eof years now.

Pitbull and home ins
I just got homeowners ins and I went through a broker in deer park. Got me a great rate. We are insured under travelers. They asked me what kind of dog I had, he's a mutt and the adjuster took a pic of him. Make sure they know you have a dog. They can drop you for lying and god forbid he bites someone you could be held for ins fraud. I don't know where you live but I can give you the name of my broker.

You should call and let them know you now have a dog. Beagles are not on the "bad breed" list so you do not have to worry about them dropping your policy.
