Hi all, hope you don't mind me crashing. I am planning to go register over the next couple of weeks and I was just wondering what some of your most valued items are.

The big stuff:
Car seat
crib
snap and go
pack and play
rock and play

sleep and plays
diapers
diaper rash ointment (dr. recomended balmex- that seems to work the best)
burp clothes
bibs
soothies pacifiers
bottles (we used the born free) with extra nipples
bottle brush
mittens
socks
gripe water
mobile (our DS LOVES his mobile! we ended up getting a second one for his PnP)

LOVE:

Rock N Play
SWING
Sleep N Plays (preferably with the zipper)
Triple Paste
Pampers Swadlers ~ (bc they have the line that turns blue when LO pees)
Burp Clothes
Bouncer (love the FP Snug a bunny)
Any toy that makes WHITE NOISE (raindrops, ocean waves, etc.) most babies LOVE to fall asleep to this.

Definitely a sound machine & the travel sleep sheep for when you go out. The white noise really helped DS sleep.

I also agree with zippered sleep & plays. . Way eaiser than all those snaps..especially duting the night.

I use A+D ointment with every diaper change.

Baby aquaphor wash and shampoo - We don't use scented items because DD has sensitive skin. So all the baby washes, wipes and lotions all went to waste. Think about registering for unscented items.

Swing!! - i got mine as a hand me down but I'd probably buy a space saver one if I needed to.

Snap and go

rock and play - instead of a basinet

pack and play

gum drop pacifiers - like the soothie they give you in the hospital but they don't rub the nose

zippered sleep and plays (as a newborn that was all she was ever really in)

winkle toy

baby einstein sound machine

sleep sacks (DD didn't like to be swaddled pretty early on but they make them both swaddle and swaddle free) in the rock and play we used blankets, she couldn't roll and she looked comfy in it. But now she's in the crib we use sleep sacks.

we use and love the playtex venaire bottles

we use and like the bottle warmer DD won't take a room temp bottle of mixed powder formula.

diaper genie - alot of people don't like this. it's convenient to have right where you change diapers and if a particular diaper is really stinky, we throw it right out.

i wouldn't register for newborn diapers or not many at all. The hospital put DD right in sz1 and it was big enough it didn't irritate the cord. If you do need newborn for a tiny baby then you can go out and buy them.

BIBS!!! you can't have enough of them. Now DD is 5 months and drools so they are a must. I'm also trying out the tomme tippee bibs when she eats to keep the food off her neck (never much of an issue when she was drinking from a bottle but spoon feeding she's a mess)

A bouncer seat also came in handy.

Gas Drops! We still put drops in every bottle. She takes gentlease and we put drops in each bottle and it's been wonders!

If FF, have some of the nursettes available for when you get home. They are great for middle of the night feedings.

Second pretty much everything above but wanted to say that my kid lived in a baby carrier for a while. I have a babybjorn, and it helped for when he wanted to be snuggled those first few months (and I had dishes to do).

But yes to sleep sacks and zipper sleep n plays. They are a godsend when you have one eye open in the middle of the night.

Travel swing!! (Along with a regular swing)

Halo sleep sacks!!

Aden n anis swaddle blankets. (I wouldn't bother with any others)

I used the sleep and play rocker and also the co sleeper at night. Both are worth it!

Homedics sound spa

A highchair that is a 3 in 1 (goes from a highchair to one that can attach to a regular chair, to a booster) also make sure the bump that holds the baby in, in the crotch area when u take off the tray is on the seat not the tray. I have a fisher price one

I agree with pp no newborn diapers

Eta: whatever bottles you register for make sure you register for the different size nipples. I use avent, so they have 4 different flow nipples. Register for all otherwise you will find yourself running back there every few months!

Fisher price kick and play piano. Gave her something to do at a young age when she was awake.

Def the Rock N Play.. this is all DS slept in at first because he hated his bassinet (which was a waste for us)

You will need to experiment with a few things to see what works for you but I can't live without:

Rock and Play
Activity mat
Summer Infant Swaddles
Dr. Brown's bottles
Changing Pad
Aquaphor - so many uses!
Pampers Swaddlers (has a blue line to tell you when it's wet!)
burp cloths/bibs
And the bumbo is great, I got it late but I use it all the time and I think it helped DS learn to sit

As I was driving in to work, I was thinking about how great my ergo was. $$ but worth it.

Besides that, my swing, jumperoo, flat play matt, car seats, stroller and high chair were heavily used.

No use for: pack n play (i used it for bassinett feature only), exersaucer, baby bath tub (I bathed them in regular tub), bottle warmer.

But, you will register for a lot and it's ok.
