DD is two months, we will pierce them at 4 months at her ped.

DD is 4 and does not have them. I wanted to wait for her to really want them. Now mind you, I have worn earrings since I was a young child, so they are very important to me. But I want her to want them. She does ask for them now, but I have told her, if she wants them, she has to realize it will hurt a bit. So I am waiting for her to be ready. Plus, she is still sort of at a stage where she will touch things alot, so I want to wait until Iam sure she wont play with them.

I also waited b/c I was afraid of her swallowing one, or one being missing and me not knowing where it went. That would drive me insane. Also last thing I wanted to do was chance infection when DD was a baby. There was enough to worry about IMO so it was a no brainer for me to wait.

This is always an interesting topic for me. I never thought twice about piercing bc of how I was raised. I had my ears pierced at 2months and its always been something done early in my family. I had 3 holes in each ear by the time I was 9. So, piercing my DD"s ears at 3 months was completely normal. I had no clue this was even an "issue" until after. I've so many people make comments to me about her ears.

ETA: DD is now 16 months. No issue or problems. They fell out a couple times in the beginning but once I changed them from the piercing ones they are fine.

To pierce or not?

We are waiting for her to ask for them. My sisters and I all had them done for our Communion. It was also the only thing my husband requested was to let her decide if she wanted them or not.

I am going wait for her to ask for it. I just don't feel like its my decision. Though I never wear earrings. Mine always got infected even though I took good care. I don't want to deal with that with her as a baby.
