Trying not to freak out.....

My obgyn ordered a transvaginal sonogram to rule out any cysts or abnormalities. I just came back from the test and in the middle of it, the tech says to me, "You've had a C-section before?" I said, "no....I've never had children" she's like, "oh....did you ever have anything inserted for birth control?" "no....." So, she says, "Oh, OK" and then nothing. So, I asked her if there was something wrong and she told me, "No, I just saw a shadow and usually I'm right, it's because the patient has had a C-section, but I really just ask for your history, not for anything else." Obviously, she can't really tell me, but now I'm freaking out just a bit about what this "shadow" could be. My dr was not in tonight, so I have to wait for the results. I'm really trying to stay calm, but of course, I'm a little sick to my stomach.....

Thanks, I'm just wondering what this shadow is that made her think I could have possibly had a C-section.

Re: Trying not to freak out.....

This makes me mad. The techs are NEVER supposed to comment on what they see! This happened to me before, the tech said she saw a lump in my breast. I was sick to my stomach in a full blown panic attack. When I got the call from my doctor he said eveything was fine! I told him what the tech said and how she made me freak out.
I am so sorry, but its probably nothing. I know how you feel right now. I hope you speak to your doctor asap.:huggy

Thanks :) I wasn't expecting to get the results right away and was prepared to have to wait until tomorrow, but now that she said that, it makes it that much harder to not worry!!

I'm a tech too, and I never say anything for that very reason! There are sooooo many things that create shadows! I'm so sorry she worried you. Hopefully you hear from your dr very soon! Best Wishes!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon
