If you call your OB with a question/concern, how long does it take for them to call you back?

I'm having a lot of BH contractions again and I really need to get his opinion on this. I called at 930am and then again at 1230pm and he still has not called me back. I get that he is busy with other patients, but I find this unacceptable. Am I wrong here? How long do you usually wait for a call back?

It depends. The front desk/answering service always takes a pretty detailed message and then depending on what it is I guess the doctor determines if it is an emergency or if I'm just being a worried FTM.

For something like this I would think they should have called you back by now. I would call again every hour on the hour until you hear back.

So far I haven't had the doctor actually call me - a nurse does. The front desk takes a message about what my worry is and the nurse has so far called back within 1.5 hours.

Usually 1.5-2 hours

The receptionist took detailed messages both times and said someone would call me back shortly and still nothing!

Not acceptable!!!!! You pay for the doctors service and right now he's not helping you. I would call every hour until I got an answer at this point. The office is going to close and you still won't get your answer. My doctors office never takes more then 45 minutes to call me back so far. I have to say they have been pretty good and if they weren't with something this important I would become annoying to the front desk girl until I heard back. I would even ask to speak to a nurse if the doctor is too busy.

Worst case scenario, wait till the office closes and call the emergency number, they answer faster!

that seems too long.

the nurse that i talk to always takes a details message, talks to the doctor in between patients and then calls me back with an answer, usually within and hour or so. Or will have the dr call me back if necessary.

Thanks! He finally called at 4pm. I have an appt for my Level II tomorrow, so I'm definitely going to bring this up. So annoying!

When I called with bleeding early on he called back in 3 mins and they were expecting me at the hospital. When I had contractions he called me right back and told be to go to l&d. I made up with waiting 3 hrs for appointments lol.
