A somewhat TMI question/concern...
Last weekend Emily had what we thought was a stomach virus. Well, first we thought she was constipated and we started giving her miralax. Her stomach hurt. She did end up throwing up twice, so then we thought it was a stomach virus. We didn't take her to the doctor since usually for a stomach virus there isn't much they can do.
She never had diarrhea with the "stomach virus" and did have 2 bowel movements during the week ... on Tuesday and Wednesday at school. Since then she hasn't had a bowel movement.
She is complaining that her "butt" hurts. And it is so bad that she can barely sit down. Last night she was complaining of stomach aches also, and just sat on the couch with us at BIL's house and didn't want to interact with anyone there (although she was the only child there too.)
I feel like I need to take her to PM pediatrics. They are open today. She is in so much pain, moaning and complaining, and this is not normal.
I don't know if it is from constipation, hemmoroids, anything like that. She knows that they are gonna have to check out her butt and she doesn't want them to do that, but I told her that at this point if she is in so much pain that it is what we need to do.
Not to mention that we're gonna probably end up missing Christmas at my brother's house and exchanging gifts with them, but I know we can catch up with them during the week.
I don't know, WWYD? She won't have fun at my brothers if she is this uncomfortable, and I htink that if it's been going on since last week that we need to get it checked out by now!

I would take her to PM Peds.
My guess would be constipation -
Does the miralax bottle say anything about drinking a lot of water?

I hope she's feeling better but it really sounds like constipation. When DD was constipated she never ever said her tummy hurt. She always said her tush hurts.

Re: A somewhat TMI question/concern...
Hi Everyone. I didn't even end up ocming back here to check for responses, we ended up taking her to PM Pediatrics. I am so glad that we took her and feel bad that we didn't take her earlier in the week. I was just waiting for the Miralax to work and I guess it wasn't strong enough.
She was definately constipated. They did an enema which was highly traumatic. She sounded like she was in labor! I felt so bad and was crying for her, but she ended being able to pass everything that was backed up and we walked out of there with her smiling and feeling so happy. We made it to my brother's for Christmas (an hour and a half late and without the cookies I was in the middle of baking when we decided to go!) but she ended up enjoying Christmas with her cousins which is the best thing.
We are now going to be giving her 4 ounces of prune juice every day along with a full dosage of miralax for at least the next 2 weeks. I have to follow up with our pediatrician later on this week!

I'm glad she's feeling better and got to spend Christmas with the family.
I'm also glad I don't clean the bathrooms at PM Peds!!!
I keep the small cans of prune juice on hand for DS - he gets backed up ever so often and don't need a full bottle.
