had a bit of a panic attack last night....

So we are laying in bed, just turned the TV off and DH decides it's a great time to tell me that his father will be staying with us right after the baby is born, and who knows for how long!!! I already have my parents coming and my brother might be coming as well. Not to mention my MIL lives next door, (at least I can ask her to leave), but I thought we had an understanding that his father could stay elsewhere since he is form NY and has friends and family nearby.... My parents/brother are a bit different, I'm from Alaska and wouldn't want to make them stay in a hotel.

I literally freaked out, I was hyperventilating and shaking in fear! My puppy must have realized what was going on because he got up and laid up against my back to comfort me!

AHHHH! What am I going to do??????

Did you talk to DH about it? He had to have noticed that you were having a panic attack. I would try to talk to him and tell him that your parents and brother are staying here and it's just too much already to add another person into the mix while trying to get to know and take care of your newborn. Ask him if there is any other way that he can find some place other to stay so that we aren't TOTALLY overwhelmed.

He just joked it off, saying that he would be staying at the boat to get away. His father is a lot to deal with on his own, and my parents are no picnic, so yeah.... but I just told him if he goes to the boat he may not have a family when he gets back!!! He just minimized my feelings and pretty much ignored the craziness of it all..... It was exactly the time to discuss it with me freaking out and all...I'll bring it up again.....

Why is your DH's dad coming to live with you? Is it to help? There are so many people you have already that are going to be there to help! I would talk to DH and tell him exacatley what you're feeling!

His father lives in Florida, he's coming to see his grandson be born and spend time with us....same as my parents, except they are planning to come after he is born so I'm not in the hospital wen they get here. As for help...HA!!!! They will not be any help at all! None of them!! FIL has never changed a diaper in his life and my parents are in their 70's so it's actually more of a burden than help.....

The only help will be my MIL and knowing her, she'll probably overwhelm me VERY quickly with what I'm doing "wrong"

In this case, they all need to stay in a hotel then.

I wish! But I can't make my parents stay in a hotel...they do everytime they come but they don't have the money right now, and its costing them alot just to get here....as for his father....it's going to be a fight!

I know it would be $$, but it might be worth your sanity for you to rent rooms for them (with a specific time limit Chat Icon ).

I really wish that was an option, but we are currently spending over $100k to get our house back to working order form Sandy, so there is no extra money left lying around. If my parents had to they would get a hotel, but hopefully it won't be an issue for them. As for my FIL, he has places he can stay, I'll just have to be strong and fight for him to go elsewhere.
