Around $175 in the winter, under and under $80 when the heat is off.
We got an insane gas bill once - over $800, and it turns out they had read the meter wrong - so if it is really crazy, you should definitely give them a call.

I don't know what it is for gas separate from electric, but the total was 550 last month. Not a good month!

I was going to make the same exact post. For second time now (we moved in November), our bill has been $200-$240 which feels INSANE. We control it throughout.

Anyone have any recommendations on how to reduce it? We keep it below 70 when we're not home and around 72ish when we are. it's a pretty decent size home so not sure if that's part of it.

That actually sounds pretty high heat to me. We keep ours at 62 when we're not home. The house heats up fast, so why pay all that money to heat it up when we're not there? When we are home, during the day we keep the downstairs at 68, and the upstairs at 65 (we basically just go up there to sleep). It's at 68 now and I'm sitting here in a tee shirt and pajama pants, very comfortable.

Apt, apt.

It's hard to complain about heating bills when you state you keep it "below 70" when you're not around, as if that is such a great sacrifice.

We keep the heat on 62 when we're around, 56 when we're not home.

Want to spend less money? Wear a bathrobe or something. Maybe a blanket on the couch.

Re: How much is your gas bill every month

last month it was 160 (for Dec.). This month it was 109 (for Jan).

We heat with gas and have 3 zones (family room, main floor, and basement). The basement stays on 62, family room and the rest of the house is at 68.

The amount doesn't suprise me considering it's winter and our electricity bill has dropped a lot.

Dec-Feb the bill can get as high as $250-$300. However I am ALWAYS cold and the enite house is always kept between 68-70, so I expect the higher bills. To me it is worth it for my comfort. Also our whole house is gas, and has high ceilings and tons of windows that can get drafty. When the heat is off the gas bill is around $50.
