How much gas is normal for a 1 month old
DD has very loud, very smelly gas
Often when she passes gas I find myself checking her diaper thinking she pooped becaus it smells that bad.
She grunts and groans quite a bit when she has gas but no crying.
We tried gas drops and also switched to dr. brown's bottles but no luck
She also only poops every 1-2 days, but pees A LOT, like 15 times a day!
Shes s formula-fed

this sounds normal to me. DDs gas was never really smelly but she often grunted and groaned and twisted back and forth when she has gas. she was BF and FF. we used Dr Browns also which helped. you can try switching formulas but IMO it causes more issues than helps. as long as she isnt crying from it and she is eating normally, its not really a problem. most infants go through some sort of gas issue and grow out of it by 3 months or so.

My DD was EBF, but she had and still has so much gas! It never seemed painful for her and it never smelled, but that might be because she was BF..I dunno. But she farted all the time, and at 15 months, she still farts a lot! I think as long as your baby doesnt seem in discomfort from the gas, it's fine!

Sounds normal. Around 1 month DD started to have less BMs and grunted everytime she had a BM or gas.

Re: How much gas is normal for a 1 month old
At around 2 weeks, DS began to have such an insane amount of gas that could have rivaled a frat house. His was never smelly though because of breast milk. He did have a very difficult time passing it, so we did gas drops, bicycling of legs, pumping the legs, belly massages etc. and thise helped sooo much.

Well that's reassuring to hear that it's pretty normal. I'm waiting for the dr. to call me back rebating her bowel movements. She goes like once every 1-2 days and then when she finally goes it's like a massive watery poop thats more of a dark green color now...

My Dd does the same exact thing. Im going to mention to my ped when I see him next week. She has no other symptoms for milk allergy or pain while eating or painful gas so I wasnt too concerned.

Re: How much gas is normal for a 1 month old
My 2-week-old has farts that I'd think a 300-lb trucker would be producing!, and times I'm like " no way is tht only a fart!" But alas, no dirty diaper!

Re: How much gas is normal for a 1 month old
My dd has always been a farter... And yes, they are smelly as well... S much so I remember bringing it up to her ped around the 1-2 month mark and they said its normal... Some babies a just very gassy like that... Apparently we both have one... At 7 months I now know the difference between a fart smell and a poop smell and don't have to check as much... Lovely right
