traveling at 29 weeks versus 34 weeks?
So, I want to plan a little weekend getaway someplace close (like 2-3 hour drive max) before baby’s arrival in August. There’s a deal on SniqueAway.com for a romantic boutique hotel in Milford PA (Hotel Fauchere) that I’ve wanted to go to for a long time (it’s in a very historic town and I’m a history geek lol). We visited a great romantic hotel last year too, The Ledges in Hawley PA (in the Poconos overlooking waterfalls), it’s about 10-15 minutes away from Milford PA, so basically the same area of PA.
My question is, with the SniqueAway deal, the latest dates I can book is the weekend after Memorial Day when I’ll be 29 weeks pregnant. If we stay at the Ledges Hotel again I can use a promo that they have on their site, so no date restriction, I’d pick the week of 4th of July and stay there Wednesday-Friday so we can enjoy the big fireworks show they have at Lake Wallenpaupack (also a 10 minute drive or so from the hotel). If I go with that week instead I’d be 34 weeks pregnant.
So which would you choose, 2 ½ hour road trip at 29 weeks pregnant when it’s a little cooler in the Poconos (unless it turns out to be really hot at the end of May!), or go for 4th of July at 34 weeks when there might be more to do in the town? If I book the SniqueAway deal at Hotel Fauchere in Milford for the end of May it's non-refundable so that's why I'm not sure what to do!! Not sure if there will be a big difference between how comfortable I will be at 29 weeks vs. 34 weeks.
Thanks for entertaining my indecisive thought process!!
Here's a link to each place I'm considering:
weekend after Memorial Day Hotel Fauchere Milford PA
4th of July The Ledges Hotel- Hawley PA

Re: traveling at 29 weeks versus 34 weeks?
Everyone feels different throughout their pregnancy. For me, I totally would've felt up to traveling and having a little vacation at 29 weeks. I was comfortable and feeling pretty good.
But 34 weeks..........nope, no way. A 33 weeks it all changed for me. I started getting swollen, I am exhausted most of the day, I am not sleeping as well, and my belly is making me uncomfortable. Honestly, a vacation now (I am 35 wks) is not at all appealing, I just want to relax and be close to home in case baby #2 makes an early appearance.
I would totally take the earlier, cooler trip. Heat + 34 wks pregnant = miserable mommy to be.........at least in my case.

I haven't gotten to the 29th week, let alone the 34th so I can't tell you from experience but I can say what I've heard and what I would probably do. I would rather do at 29 weeks. At 34 weeks I can only imagine how uncomfortable I will be in the car driving 2.5 hours, plus having to make pee stops along the way. 29 weeks I'd be more likely to walk around and enjoy myself then at 34 weeks when I'll probably want to relax and stay inside to avoid the heat that feels double while pregnant (I'm only guessing because this winter I'm CONSTANTLY complaining it's too hot when it's really like 60 degrees in our apt).
But again this is just what I would do, I can't speak for how you are going to feel or how you handle being uncomfortable or hot.

Re: traveling at 29 weeks versus 34 weeks?
Thanks for the input guys! So far at almost 13 weeks along I've been cold constantly, but I'm sure that will change as I get bigger and feel hot all the time instead! lol I think you've swayed me to stick with 29 weeks....I just hope DH isn't annoyed I'm planning this without telling him (we're doing work on our house and he said we shouldn't take any trips until it's done but I don't think we'll be done until after the baby's here!!).

Given this update, I say run it by dh first....my house is under construction, and I know he would not ev3n go if I booked a trip without talking to him about it.

If I wait until the work on our house is done we won't be going on vacation until 2016! (DH is doing most of it himself, so it's slow going!)

29 weeks. I traveled a lot last pregnancy, and it is much easier and more comfortable to travel at 29 weeks then 34.

I would play it safe and travel at 29 instead of 34.
