Traveling at 30 weeks?

DH wants to rent a house in Vermont when I will be 30 Weeks. Of course everyone will be going skiing and I'm just going to lounge around. Is it okay to drive about 4 1/2 hours at 30 Weeks? We are just going for 5 days.

My Dr didn't want me traveling anywhere in my third trimester...you might want to consult with your Dr.

Re: Traveling at 30 weeks?

if you're healthy, yeah sure...

I WILL say, however, that I drove to the DC area and back (2 day work conference) when I was 30 weeks, and had less than an ideal experience.

The trip down was fine (stopped at I-95 rest stops along the way, no major traffic).... got there in 6 hours 20 min. the trip BACK was a NIGHTMARE. It was a 9 hour trip Chat Icon accidents, road work... you name it

I got home after 3am. after that stress (will I need a hotel for the night?), I felt miserable for 2 days.

so if you know your route, and can say the roads aren't as busy as I-95 in NJ/Delaware/MD, you'll have no troubles... an 8 hour journey will surely give you edema and make you miserable.....

You'd probably be ok, but just be prepared to be uncomfy for the drive. I'm 32 weeks now and sitting anywhere for long periods of time really takes a toll on my back. Also, I would make sure you'd be able to back out last minute becuase you never know how you'll be feeling at that point.

You should be pretty much okay. I wouldn't sit in the car for more than about 2 hours straight though. Once you are there, you can relax, so that will be fine Chat Icon

Re: Traveling at 30 weeks?

Thanks!! I guess we will just see what happens. The place we are going, is the same place we have been going for years. There is never much traffic, especially since we usually leave around 5am. I will ask my doctor about it at the next appointment.
